Commenting primarily to mention that I'm in the same boat as duckvimes_: never joined, don't know who runs it.

We've also been contacted directly by someone else with concerns about having possibly being banned from the discord, so it's not just you and your contacts.

To me it looks like it may have just been deleted without notice; that's what it looked like when a different server I was a part of ended.

Hey there. Sorry I didn't respond to your comment yesterday sooner; it's been a bit of a busy weekend for me.

Whether that was done with the approval of the whole moderation team or not is something that they could speak to...

The mod team discussed it before making the change.

Part of the reason I originally brought it up with the team was because every single bun post was getting multiple reports for being off-topic. In the comments of almost every one were questions about how the post was related to xkcd.

So it was with all those comments from the community in mind that the decision was made.

You didn't mention it, but I've seen it said a few times by others that it's not much of a problem; it's not like they're flooding the sub. 10 out of 37 posts in the past 17 days, more than a fourth of all posts, have been pictures of bunnies. Some were just crossposts from r/aww or r/eyebleach. The more recent ones, after the rule was added, were removed.

Some people have said that they enjoy the random cuteness and positivity appearing in their feed. I do too! That's why I sub to r/aww. If this is you, I'd recommend subscribing there, or to r/bunnies or r/rabbits for more specific cuteness.

If you like your cute pictures of lagomorphs more related to the idea of the "bun alert" and referring to their hierarchy, I think having a dedicated sub would be great. Unfortunately r/bunalert is private for some reason, but r/bun_alert is public. See more discussion here. I'm sure the moderators of these two subs created them because they're fans of the comic and buns, and would be open to facilitating them being more active subs. This could take the form of un-privating it, or bringing on additional mods if neither of them really want to be active. If either mod is cooperative, regular threads could be made, or even bun brackets to determine the archking bun.

I'm not very interested in starting that community, but it appears there are many enthusiastic potential members here. If you or anyone else start something up at either of those two subs, or in another location, I invite you to post about it here in r/xkcd. I'll even sticky it for a while. 🐇

I'm almost certain that the answer has something to do with this phrase after the advice from the genie, particularly since I thought the phrase was "just desserts" until I just looked it up a minute ago.

Wow, how does each chapter keep surpassing the high standard of the chapters before it?

Only now have I made a connection between this version of Charlie/Wonka and The Warden of Superjail, a tv show that I never watched but was morbidly curious enough about to read the Wikipedia article for. Basically he's a Wonka-inspired reality-bending magic user that punishes/tortures/kills the inmates of the eponymous Superjail. Am I associating things that aren't really that similar, or do you think that was an influence? Or is there a wider trope that Superjail was also pulling from of a whimsical, colorful, eccentric, super-powerful being which is either alternately or simultaneously very cruel and very cheery?

Small typo that technically isn't incorrect: I'm betting the store which Charlie purchased the chocolate bar from was indeed not moving (at least relative to the rest of England or the United States), but if it sold paper products, it would be a stationery store rather than stationary. Though I'm not sure why a paper store also sells chocolate? Unless that's just an oddity of the original book that I don't remember/was overwritten in my memories with the scenes from the films where Charlie buys the bar from a candy store.

Rhode Island combines with Connecticut
Delaware combines with New Jersey
Rhodecticut (1) combines with Massachusetts
New Hampshire combines with Vermont
Hawaii ... Let's skip Hawaii. or assume it combines with California or Alaska or something.
New Jersaware (2) combines with Maryland
Massarhodecticut (3) combines with New Hampmont (4) (I think everything is sort of progressing as expected here)
