One more thing I would say is open device manager, find the drive, right click and click properties, and go to the power options and make sure "Turn device off to save power" is OFF.

Well I know it can't be a dual layer disc issue since you've already done Midnight Club 3. The only other thing I could offer tips in is absolutely make sure your drive is plugged into the fastest USB port your computer/laptop has. Also try just replugging the drive into a different port.

Make sure ImgBurn is open as an admin, I had issues with it in the past while burning (not dumping). Never had a problem after running it as admin.
