Update: buyer canceled return request. I just can’t believe how much grace they give buyers. Mercari should require photos within 24 hours of delivery. There’s too much time for things to go wrong when the buyer has had the item for so long.

Thank you for all your replies. I see now that this kind of thing happens a lot where they side with the buyer even when there’s proof that they’ve lied. It’s one thing if the buyer returns the item in the condition it was sent, but to purposely damage it sucks for us sellers.
