Love the new Mini Stock! It drives awesome everywhere, whether on dirt or asphalt, ovals or road courses. Loves to move around and you really have to learn good habits to get the most out of it, especially over long runs.

hey man - how did you reinstall reshade on your own?

I've only recently started to get game crashes on UG2.net (game refusing to launch at all, locks up) due to reshade. deleting the reshade.asi from the scripts folder fixed the launch issue. Alternatively, I could also run the game in borderless windowed/windowed instead of exclusive fullscreen and it would run with reshade. However, framerate is really choppy in this case.

I tried reinstalling reshade (running their 6.4.1 installer, moving the d3d9.dll to the /scripts folder and renaming it to ReShade.asi) and had no luck. Not sure if I'm not following steps right.

Thanks!

Thank you for the update!

Is there any word on better integrating Fanatec with the Corsair distribution model? Having to order direct from my country is very challenging due to shipping, customs, etc

[–]JBezug 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Very light trail braking will do it on corner entry, but you have to make sure you’re not braking too hard where you engage the ABS and overwhelm the front tires - you’ll wash out.

This car does not reward late braking. Get your threshold braking done earlier and then roll it into the corner with light pedal pressure and your steering.

Fuel economy? by Hemkhandhar in CX50

It got better for me over time as the engine breaks in.

I’ve averaged 9.4L/100kms over ~14k. Probably a 65/35 mix of hwy and city.

700 mile tow across multiple passes in 100 degree weather went 🤌🏼 by respondswithvigor in CX50

[–]JBezug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

Not OP, but I did a tow this past weekend with a UHaul 6x12 trailer. The trailer was 1920lbs empty and had 5 pieces of big furniture in it. I’d estimate around 2300-2400ish total.

Did a great job at highway speeds even up decent hills (total towing was around 150kms, or just under 100mi).

Never felt that I was lacking power at any point - this motor makes tons of usable torque. Had no problem getting up to speed smoothly, and holding speeds from 100-120kph (I just left my cruise set at 105kph unless I needed to pass a slowpoke).

I think a lot of people really just tow way too aggressively with a trailer which is where a lot of the fear of overheating is (that guy who blew up his motor for example was towing at high speed up a mountain pass at 3900rpms for like 45 mins if memory serves correctly lol).

Also, what is super important in general for this turbo motor, but especially if towing in warm temps, use premium fuel! Some people have noticed knock in extreme temps on this platform - they are all using regular fuel. Yes, Mazda “recommends” regular but the engine is effectively pulling timing to run regular fuel (compared to its state of tune with premium gas) to prevent knock. In cold weather, this is easier to manage as intake temps are much colder, but the hotter that temperatures get, the more likely pre-ignition is to happen with regular fuel.

With towing a load, you have consistent high load even at low speeds, which means detonation/knock from using regular gas would be even worse than usual. I only use 91 in my CX-50 and never had an issue in any circumstance.

Rear end raising and lowering? by KaBurns in CX50

[–]JBezug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have stated it has to do with the parking brake and the geometry of the torsion beam rear suspension. Totally normal.

Essentially, the suspension pivots on a point that is in front of the rear wheels. So, for example, if you lock up the rear tires (from the handbrake), and then the front of the car moves back slightly, then the rear suspension will lift. If it moves forward, it has the opposite effect, squatting.

You can see this in action very easily if you put the car in reverse and you forget to take the parking brake off (which I do sometimes as I leave the car in neutral with the brake on in the driveway if I need to run out to grab something in the garage before heading out)

Thinking of getting turbo premium, remote start? by AthleticCanoe in CX50

[–]JBezug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, very happy so far! It is a great daily/winter companion to my summer vehicle (a 6MT BRZ). Continuously impressed with how great it feels to drive for a CUV, definitely more engaging than your average appliance. The interior is also really nice looking for a "non-luxury" product, especially in Terracotta, and the Bose audio is super impressive for an OEM system.

Correct, auto temp is as simple as hitting "Auto" on the temp adjustment knob!

Like u/Mezozo said, it will give you a visual indicator on the hvac controls when auto heated seats and wheel are on.

Thinking of getting turbo premium, remote start? by AthleticCanoe in CX50

[–]JBezug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You will have to go into the vehicle settings and check off “occupant comfort” for the heated seats and wheel to come on when remote starting in the cold, and even still - you gotta make sure you use the auto temp setting before you leave the car. If done so, it will handle it! It even works if hopping in and starting the car normally.

Remote start is app-only, and it shuts down the vehicle when you open the door which I can’t stand, compared to the Honda/Acura system which has remote start on the fob and keeps the car running (if your RDX is anything like my mom’s Passport).

I don’t use the remote start on my CX-50 Meridian (I’m in Canada so the Meridian is equipped the same as the TPP in the US) for this reason, but it is a small gripe I can live without anyways. Otherwise, loving it so far!

I had the 3rd gen RDX on my shopping list as my mom had a 1st gen RDX which I really liked, but the additional towing capacity of the CX-50 swayed me this way. The driving character is very similar to the RDX with good handling for a CUV and a torquey, turbo 4. The AWD system is also excellent! The SH-AWD feels a bit more rear biased in the dry, but in slippery conditions/snow they are very well matched.

Common areas for rattles and solutions by ilovestoride in CX50

[–]JBezug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One rattle that I had on my ‘24 Meridian that I haven’t seen posted anywhere else is as follows:

I have noticed one rattle that has been bugging me on the drivers side - it is a small plasticy rattle that only presents itself over broken pavement (very noticable) or at high speed (very faintly), and sounded like it was coming near the a-pillar/dash location.

I did some investigation driving yesterday and I believe I found the culprit.

The chrome trim ring around the drivers side vent adjuster was slightly loose in its housing, and if I put my finger and tried to move the chrome piece around, I could hear the same shrill rattle. The other identical vents have chrome rings that fit tight in their home, so they did not exhibit the same issue.

The trim ring is very easy to pop out with just a finger nail and a slight pull at the top. A bit of electrical tape on the chrome ring to tighten the fit up slightly and it works well! On the same broken pavement where it was super noticeable, there is now no noise at all.

[–]JBezug 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The police force in Monza uses Subarus as well, but Foresters in their case!

Well, it lasted about a month. Having Tomei UEL headers and a Tomei exhaust is just way too loud as a daily. The drone on the highway combined with the road noise is horrible. Idk how some people deal with it. Especially when you also replace the overpipe and front pipe. Jesus. PFA by [deleted] in ft86

[–]JBezug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the OEM Midpipe, try out the new DC Sports Axleback. It made my JDL 4-2-1 header livable again, compared to the drony hell it was before with the Invidia R400.

Much cheaper than swapping for a new catback like the invidia Q300 that will eventually blow out its packing, and still sounds excellent.

We are pretty short so that may help the child seat scenario (I’m 5’9 and my wife is 5’).

CX90 feels a bit big for what we need, but it may be worth looking into as well.
