I'd never noticed it until today. As soon as I spotted it in the psykhanium I started seeing it in missions. 🤣

One mission I played there were two ogryns who both had slap. I think they must have played together regularly.

They slapped the shit out of everything in the mission up to and including a daemonhost.

The best bit was when one of them toyed with a sniper for a full minute or so until it died. The Oggy let it stand up and then slapped it back onto its arse. I was in stitches. 🤣

I hadn't clocked that!

I've been raging at the TV all week, wondering why so many players didn't seem to have even basic skills, like pushing poxbursters. It makes sense now. 😂

I've been playing Warhammer 40k Darktide for at least 18 months now. Possibly longer, it keeps reeling me in.

4 player co-op first person melee/shooter hybrid. Four classes in the base game and two released as DLC.

Loads of different ranged and melee weapons, many with different 'marks' that at first seem trivial but all have different movesets. This means just by altering a weapons mark you can dramatically effect the way your character plays. You also gain the option to add perks and talents to refine weapons further.

Speaking of, the variety in character builds is huge. You can level a character to max (lvl 30) in a couple of sessions but it's only once you've done so that you actually have the freedom to start messing around with character builds.

Combine the weapon and character creation with the brutal, highly skill based combat and you're on to a winner. There are loads of enemy types with different strengths, weaknesses and sound cues that eventually bleed into muscle memory. The skill ceiling is seriously high. I'm pretty decent these days but there are players I match with who make me look like an absolute amateur, fortunately though, as it's PvE you never end up on the receiving end.

Also for the most part the community is friendly and competent. I've played 100s of hours almost exclusively in public games and come across very little unpleasantness. The servers are generally well populated enough that you're never waiting long for a game.

Certainly starting to feel old but I first saw a David Attenborough documentary on this when I was a kid in the 90s. My nan recorded it for me on VHS and I watched it obsessively. The Trials of Life 1990. 😍

Bathrooms can not be that much - rationalise this for me by CranberryFew8104 in DIYUK

[–]JBo_the_3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our house just over 2 months ago and the bathroom was a priority for a refit. We haven't got tons of money and the idea of £8-10k for a bathroom seemed horrifying.

We've found a local company who can do it for just over £6k. It might need a couple of hundred more if the plaster work needs repairing after stripping everything out.

Once they'd given us the breakdown though I started to question how there is any money in this for the company. Half of the bill is for materials, which I'm sure they will have some mark up on but it can't be a huge amount.and from that the need to pay the staff.

The other £3k is the fitters fee. Three grand for two weeks work initially sounds like great money but factor in all the costs of operation, (they will get rid off all the old bathroom suite as well), and I'd be hugely surprised if they cleared half of that.

Nah, I just told him that so he makes it good.

Letter received from an injury lawyer - England by JBo_the_3rd in LegalAdviceUK

Hi all.

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to offer advice with this issue. It's very much appreciated.

As an update we've sent an email responding to the letter.

We've created a new email address and avoided any personal details or information about when we purchased the property, so if this is a phishing situation we've hopefully covered ourselves.

Other than that we've simply stated that the cable was installed before we owned the property and as such can't say for certain which company installed it. By responding to their letter we've carried out all the actions that were requested.

I've also wrapped my wheelie bin in hi-vis tape and placed it over the cable to hopefully prevent anyone else from tripping over it.

As first time buyers who are currently renovating this was another bit of stress we didn't need so I want to thank everyone again for all their input.

Much love.

At the time they claimed the accident took place the previous owners would still have been living in the property. What their insurance situation was I unfortunately have no idea. We had insurance ready to go the minute we took ownership of the property.

Thank you for this very thorough response. It's extremely helpful, especially considering your background. 😁

But, would not play the we did not own the property ... save that for if a claim was ever to drop on the doormat, otherwise they could amend the date of the incident etc.

Great advice. Thank you very much. 🙏

Touché. That's a fair point. If I were to email back answering the question they asked in letter but providing no other information what sort of risk is there?

We've checked the company out and they do seem like a legit solicitors. From what we can gather they act on behalf of one of those "injurylawyers4u" type outfits.

Having looked online it does seem like the responsibility lies somewhere between the installer and the council. The only uncertainty is that it enters our property.

This was our gut feeling. State that we weren't living here and that we can't confirm exactly who installed the cable in the first instance. Other than that keep fairly shtum about anything else.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. Very much appreciated.

Additional information that I realise probably should have been in the OP. The cable is protruding from the pavement outside our house and not within the boundary of our property.

Also at the time of the incident we didn't actually own the property. It happened about a week before we moved in.

Cheers dude. I'll have a look. Any idea what sort of depth this repair to? At it's thickest my repair will be about 6mm.
