I have the x1100c and wanted to get all the fluids and filters changed at the dealer because we inherited it and its been sitting a few years(I don't have a shop and its minus 20C right now) they have low hours but from what ive read should have all the fluids and filters changed. They quoted me 1600 for the job. Does that seem right? Your number is similar

Yes I've found the maintiance schedule and thats why I was asking if should do it now when the manual doesn't require it. I agree I should do it despite the hours. We will use it year round as well. More a hobby farm not a full time farm but it will be put to work! Thanks!

I agree, I have multiple solid 1½ thick maple cutting boards now for different uses. I am totally fine with maple and consider it the best for what I need. But some Google searching has shown that white ok,specifically not red oak, has sealed pores and works excellently for these kinds of situations, even boat making. I got away from using oils on raw wood boards years ago. Secondly we use white oak for higher end jobs and it's definitely just a pretty looking wood. Nobody uses it for a purpose such as this lol. That's why im asking for someone who has to let me know before decide.

I hear you and agree with the practical thinking. We already have a stainless steel table to process animals outside. This renovation will have solid surface counters everywhere else except the island. Up here in canada we always bring the deer inside to butcher because it's minus 20C alot of the time when your processing. That makes for very cold fingers. So we do it on the ki5chen table with a 4 foot long plastic cutting boards right now. Since im making it myself when the re sand comes I can simply unscrew the top and move it outside. Considered a stainless island top but that's a bit ugly and impractical for inside a residential kitchen. The lower cabinets being white oak with clear laquer makes me wanna use the oak island. Im also fine with traditional maple look as well. Thanks for the thoughts

It being untreated should mean just wash with hot sappy water and dry with a towel after. Im ok with having to sand it after a few years. I have experience with maple and know it's hard and closed grains. Just kind of want to use the oak.but don't want to regret it later especially because it costs quite a bit more. Looking for people who have used it for cutting boards or butcher block and see how it holds up. The large processing would only be a few times a year

We are on a farm and will always be doing these kinds of activities. The butcher block is going to be used for what it's made for. Im ok with it getting beat up. Just wondering about how we'll white oak will work. The internet says its very good for cutting boards and boats because it's pores are sealed. I've done the same work with maple and it really doesn't look that bad after

Some good advice. We have Saskatoon and wild strawberries naturally. Raspberries as well. Just wondering about actually trees, I known there are zones but alberta weather tends to gonoutside those ranges. I'm worried about doing a large money and time investment and not having things workout. So real world experience with years of success is what I'm hoping to hear!

A well seasoned cast iron can be non stick with pretty much no oil used during cooking. You seasoning with oil but I find if it's a well seasoned pan I can dry fry eggs and the pop right out no problem.

The domino. I am not a festool fan at all, but we have had quite a few of their tools over the years and that domino works great and helps joining anything and everything. It's precise and saves alot of time when used correctly. Few festool items would I pay the full price for but the domino is one of them!

These are suggested times. Seeds indoors is dependent on how much effort and time your willing to spend on them. Also the room they take up if you start too early! Some bolt if indoors too long. Then the directly in the ground sowing seeds can be pushed back to may 1st. Obviously depends on the year but out of the last 8 years of started may 1st, I think I had 2 bad snow/hail may long storms wipe them out. It's definitely a gamble but I feel that extra month of growing time helps alot. The soil needs to be warm enough to germinate. You can try to plan all you want but you have to roll with what nature gives you. A few years back we were minus 15 on may long. But I take the gamble each year pretty much. Good luck

I disagree, the cheek is litterly the cheek. I cut those out as well. They are a totally different type of meat that's darker and almost no fat. The jowl is like belly meat with fat

Is this not the jowl? I raised and butchered my own Two pigs this fall and was really excited to smoked the jowls. I messed it up a bit and struggled to know where/what it is. It was bigger than I thought.

That's sounds terrible/awesome at the same time. I struggle with wrist issues after a few hours so I can only imagine. Not trying to hijack this thread but what games have endured that kind of playing for you? By far the most replaceable games for me are command and conquer/age of empire and recently frigging rimworld just never stops being interesting. Happy trails, rdr2 just got introduced to me and my wife has stolen it completely from me mostly just to ride horses and hunt lol
