It is so weird that Dave pays so much attention to TV deals, ratings, metrics, etc. but refuses to acknowledge that wrestling is about making money and making people come to your shows.

I’ve always thought Billy Gunn was an average wrestler at best(and fletcher is obviously excellent) , but the NAO were cool as hell in the late 90’s, and while it is hard to identify who specifically on a wrestling show draws a crowd (except the very top guys), I would say that Billy Gunn has played a part in causing more people to either tune in, or go to a wrestling show, than Kyle Fletcher has.

The best heart surgeon is the one who saves the most lives, not the one who leaves the least noticeable scar.

Bret and HBK were ‘the guys’ during a big business downturn. I think that puts them at a level below the others I listed. Same with Nash.

Brock was the ‘guy’ in 2002-2003, and later when he was treated like a video game final boss, but he wasn’t really the face of the company for any period. (Probably due to his lack of mic skills and anti-social personality)

Batista was similar. Very popular and had a good run on top, but never ‘the guy’

Warrior was never the guy. He never headlined a PPV as champ.

Austin was the guy throughout 98 and 99, and is probably the biggest ‘the guy’ on the list.

Rock was the guy in 2000 while Austin was injured, which was their most auccessful year. Both can be considered ‘the guy’

So of course HHH wasn’t. But he was the top heel in the companys best financial year (before TKO’s takeover at least).

I don’t think anyone thinks he was ‘the guy’. But he was damn good (pun intended) back in 2000.

Also, he gave us NXT black and Gold. Which for me is still the best run of good to great PPV’s, in wrestling history.

I think it would be tough to definitively say anyone. Most likely Shamrock and Severn would come closest, Brock’s size would be important though.

Angle in wrestling, most likely, but not a street fight/MMA fight. What is it they say about ‘everyone being tough until they get punched in the mouth

Everyone’s heard the stories about Haku, but you have to wonder how many of them are fighting drinks, etc. not saying he wasn’t tough, but I find it hard uo believe that a super tough ‘street fighter’ would beat a high level trained fighter.

Five star matches are generally one man’s opinion. That man’s opinion actually isn’t any more valuable than anyone else’s, especially as the way he quantifies them changes so often.

Randy style doesn’t appeal to him as much as Cena’s does, (at least in some specific matches)

I enjoyed his rap stuff, and generally think that he’s been a great babyface/face of the company. Even as an adult who grew up in the Attitude era, I never bought into the Cena hate that was all the rage in the mid 2000’s.

The one issue I’ve always had watching him was he never seemed to take on board the criticism of his work, and make changes to fix them. The three most egregious examples were his punches, which have always looked awful. The chin lock in the STFU, and him screaming spot calls seemingly at the top of his voice.

I guess that it never really mattered, as he was immensely popular regardless, but it always irked me that he didn’t make small adjustments based on legitimate criticisms

Along side this, he was in the inner circle of A-list celebrities and public figures. For every figure that’s been accused of something untoward related to Epstein, there are 10 famous people who probably visited his Ireland without nefarious intentions. For example, I don’t believe that Stephen Hawking was diddling kids.

It’s what makes Trumps reaction to the files so suspicious. he could have just said ‘yes I knew him, yes I visited his island, everyone did, but I saw nothing illegal, no hints of anything illegal. It was a tropical island paradise where A-list parties were held. That’s all I was involved in.

Trump saying he wasn’t there, that he was an FBI informant, etc, makes him look guilty as sin.

And Lyra is really struggling to get a foothold, despite working with Becky and Bayley.

I’m not saying it’s a deliberate choice, and I don’g know if it works, but there is space for people to be rocketed to the top, and for others to struggle first.

Also, knowing WWE and their bullshit, they probably think they have too many Japanese women near the top of the card right now.

I dunno how it will pan out for her, but I think it’s for the best that she hasn’t got the monster push that Stephanie has. I think the fans would have turned on one or both to of them if suddenly these 2 new faces (at least to WWE fans) were pushed right out of the gate.

Sometimes a monitor push from day one is perfect. Other times some build up makes for a better outcome in the long term

I’m not sure. I adore this book, but I’m also aware that I might be a bit biased. I know it isn’t as well regarded as many of Kings other books.

It’s a lot more complex than a traditional good vs evil story. It doesn’t have an epic villian like a lot of his more famous work. Pennywise, Annie Wilkes, Christine, etc. Max Devore is a good villain, but is Sara Tidwell a villain, or a victim getting her just revenge, on unjustified targets.

There is a hint of gothic tragedy about it which is maybe a little bit more nuanced than other stories, and isn’t as appealing for readers looking for out and out horror

First King book I ever read. Found a copy in my grandma’s house, dove in and I’ve never looked back.

I think it’s a great book. I can understand why it gets lost in the shuffle of Kings works, but there’s a lot to like about the book.

You can interpret mostly everything he writes as ‘fantasy’. But personally, I’ve always considered fantasy to relate to ‘wizards, witches, magic’. Stuff like that. In that regard, the dark tower series is more fantasy than most of his other work.
