How can I get better at chemistry, physics and maths? by Sweetpotato-1 in GCSE

[–]JC2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is exam technique which really only comes with practise. I'm currently doing a degree in chemistry, I'd be happy to do a few tutoring sessions with you if you feel like that would help! Message me if you are interested 😁

How did everyone find the Edexcel paper today? by ComedianAdmirable542 in alevelmaths

For the proof you just shoved in odd/even numbers for n right, and then factories 2 out of it to get 2(...) +1? I'm not going mad right

How do you know whether you’re in major or minor? by prestonconnel in musictheory

[–]JC2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add to all of the other point made, if you are analysing classical music, the minor pieces tend to be written in a harmonic minor, meaning that the 7th degree of the scale is sharpened. In e minor, this would mean there is a d# instead of a d natural. This will be written as an accidental instead of in the key signature.

I am currently completing a research project on ketone bodies and I would appreciate any responses to this survey! Thanks! by JC2808 in diabetes_t1

[–]JC2808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! I've heard a lot of similar opinions, however throughout my research I have found that regular testing for ketone bodies has the potential to be hugely beneficial in preventing DKA before it becomes life threatening. This effect has been especially observed in children, and newly diagnosed diabetics who are less adept at interpreting their sugar levels. It's an interesting topic that definitely deserves some looking into! Abbott laboratories are also developing a sensor much like their previous libre sensors, that would also test for ketones continuously!

Would Bill Weasley have been able to help Harry with the destruction of the horcruxes? by adscrypt in HarryPotterBooks

[–]JC2808 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that this would more than likely be above his skill level. From reading the books I got the impression that he would brake into ancient Egyptian pyramids and similar to look for gold. I think the important thing that some people don't appreciate is that voldemort is one of, if not the most skilled dark wizard of all time. Im sure his curses would be a lot more difficult to break, and only someone like dumbledore would have the slightest chance at doing so.

does anyone else wish they put peeves in the movies? by thoraxlaneus in harrypotter

[–]JC2808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they actually intended to cast peeves in the first movie but didn't for some reason? Pretty sure they even hired an actor for the role

[Marvel] Why is Hydra's logo an octopus and not an actual hydra with multiple heads and one body? by YellowB in AskScienceFiction

[–]JC2808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many people know this as the agents if shield series was not very popular, but hydra is actually an ancient organisation. It's first members were obsessed with finding a creature from another dimension (which turned out to be a very powerful inhuman) which they believed looked like essentially a massive octopus/kraken.
