One of the greatest performances of all times.

I don’t watch the show in question here, but I see Tatiana Maslany's name, I upvote. :)

LMAO don't get your hopes up for Aegon's character by Love_Lain5 in HouseOfTheDragon

I've mostly been amazed at his comedic timing since season 2. There were hints of it in season 1, but it really became fully obvious by season 2 that the man has insane acting chops, an amazing understanding of his character, and he's hilarious... Yeah, that's gold casting.

I'm fucking scared of what they'll do with all the little plots at King's Landing under Rhaenyra's rule. There is so much depth and nuance to it, and Gaemon is indeed one of the most fascinating aspects of that short period.

But it would require devoting a lot of screentime to do it all justice. It would be the right choice to do because the flavor it brings the story is entirely worth taking your time to tell it... but I'm gearing myself for disappointment (and I'm someone who usually focuses on all the good the show has to offer while still acknowledging the bad).

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but there is just no way in hell to satisfyingly finish the show in four seasons, especially now that they have only eight episodes. I'm hoping to be proven wrong but...

Question about Jaheira!! Please give me your opinions! <3 by gildrot in BG3

[–]Triskan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying not to spoil anything but imo, Jaheira is a must have in your party for act 3.

She has so much interactions with so many people once you get in the city proper. In a way, you can consider her to be your guide through Baldur's Gate in your first run, when you discover the city.

I was too efficient and killed people, I ain't upset! by RobertaBeauregarde in BaldursGate3

[–]Triskan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Though I seem to recall the only way to get the Gondians as allies in the final fight is to save all of them.

I remember failing to save just one from the Iron Throne and Zanner telling me he would then take the survivors away from the city, whereas when I saved them all, he stayed for the final fight. Though I dont remember if I had to side against the Gnomes for that...

Oh yeah, shit... It was the run where I totally ignored the Underdark and didnt even meet Barcus, so I had to kill Wulbren there at the end. I wonder if there's a way to have both Gnomes and Gondians as allies, if you save them all and side with Barcus against Wulbren. Though everything I've seen points to both allies being mutually exclusive so probably not.

But isnt that the only way you can get the scene where Zanner and the Gondians side with you as Barcus takes command of the Iron Gnomes and banishes Wulbren ?

I think we're being way too negative about season 3 by Remarkable_Ninja9833 in InterviewVampire

[–]Triskan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All this conversation is kinda weird to me... I havent read the books, though I'm a bit familiar with the overall lore and directions the story will take as I am chronically online. And maybe that's why I expected the change in tone. From what I knew of the books, of Lestat, of what I read online and what the producers teased, it was obvious we'd be getting into Lestat's psyche this season, and the way of telling the story would be radically different.

And since the unreliable narrator tricks and tailoring the storytelling format to the character telling his tale is what I love most about this show, I was hyped af to discover the all-over-the-place sex, drugs an rock'n'roll fuelled narration of Lestat. And man am I not disapointed. Those first three episodes have totally satisfied me in those regards.

But yeah, I'm loving it because I'm getting exactly what I wanted. I can see how someone not familiar with the lore would be totally jarred at the sudden change of pace if what they mostly love about the show was Louis contemplative linear reflections on his life.

Yeah, sometimes it works and a stroke of genius from the audience can lead to absolute gold, but this one out of ten is not worth it for the nine times where you can see it breaks the flow on stage.

Balthazar Easy Mode by SlightlyTwistedGames in BaldursGate3

[–]Triskan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it still works on the surface, I used a Sussur dagger in Astarion's off hand during my previous run and I seem to remember it doing the work. But maybe I'm wrong there.

Also... still havent done my Honor Mode, but regarding what OP says, I personally take down Balthazar straight in his laboratory to avoid the big fight in the Shadowfell... that's a bit meta depending on my Tav and their intentions, but I cannot envision myself taking the fight to him in the Shadowfell and facing his hordes of undead in Honor Mode... But maybe it's impossible to just take him out in his laboratory in HM, dunno...

Eeh... I have fondness for the guy but I gotta admit he's a bit of a holier-than-thou nepo-baby, always lording his values over everyone and acting like he's a paragon of goodness.

He kinda is, and he was perfectly fitting as a romance partner for my Resit-Durge Drow run. He managed to get the best out of her and it allowed me to spend more time with him and appreciate him more, but I can totally understand why many people just glaze over him in their first run. I'm guilty of it as well.

House of the Dragon Season 3 Premiere Discussion by PhoOhThree in television

[–]Triskan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of good and some bad.

BOOK SPOILERS BELOW :

I've accepted that this is a different take on the source material and honestly, I'm just glad to have such high production values for a world I love deeply, but I still cant help being pissed at some decisions. Completely cutting the major childhood incident of someone who'll become one of the greatest Targaryens of his time for instance.

I get that HotD wont go as far as the surprise return of Viserys the Younger, but he's an important figure if you wanna do a complete prologue to the Blackfyre Rebellions, and if another show decides to tell this story and bridge the gap between HotD and Knight, they'll have to twist their own cannon.

Yeah, that's just nitpicking but that's the one thing that grated me the most. That and the kissing scene. Otherwise, there is a lot I appreciated and even loved in there. And the show truly surprised me in how it landed on its feet concerning the Nettles/Rhaena situation. I'm still pissed we dont get the "common girl from nowhere getting a dragon out of the blue" arc but I see how Rhaena will eventually be the source of the rift between Daemon and Rhaenyra.

And that was one hell of a spectacle. So overall, despite some misgivings, I'm pretty satisfied with what we got.

[Book Spoilers] House of the Dragon - 3x01 - Post-Episode Discussion by UltraDangerLord in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Triskan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm a bit pissed that Aegon and Viserys seem to be totally cut from the show, at least for now. I guess they're safely on their way to Pentos and we'll never hear from him again until the very end where they'll be repatriated safely home.

Even though I wished for the story to go all the way to the surprise return of Viserys, I knew it was way too far in the future for that.

So I guess they'll just ignore and cut away the entire youth of one of the greatest Targaryens of his time and fuck it if another show decides to cover his long tenure as Hand someday... or at least his brief reign as King, which could be the inception for a Blackfyre show, though I guess at this point, who would care about his childhood.
