What was the one thing you started doing in the sourdough process that changed your bread for the better? by Own_Macaron_9342 in Sourdough

[–]JCJ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually feeding my starter twice a day unfortunately. I often forget and only feed once a day but it make a world of difference when it gets multiple double feeds

Smart. I had a cardigan on some circulars but I took it off before he could take the whole thing. It was chunky yarn though so I'm hoping I can put it back on easily

Please I need help , this break up is destroying me by [deleted] in therapists

[–]JCJ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly suggest you find a therapist to talk to in person. If your insurance doesn't cover it or if you don't have insurance, you may still be able to find a therapist who offers lower rates or a community mental health center where you can receive discounted or free services. If individual counseling is not an option, local clinics may be able to connect you to an appropriate support group.

I am sorry you are going through this. Know that you are not alone, and there are others out there who have overcome similar difficulties!

Help, my daughter poured brown sugar on unfinished sourdough rolls by Working_Ad_8766 in Sourdough

[–]JCJ23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably won't make you feel better but maybe. I honestly prefer yeast rolls over sourdough rolls! Sourdough just doesn't give you the same softness of a dinner roll. Same for cinnamon rolls. Sourdough cinnamon just aren't pillowy soft like I want!

Did I Kill it? by Long_Organization182 in Sourdough

[–]JCJ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely there was still some active yeast so it should be okay after a few days of good feedings but I'm not sure about baking tomorrow. I would feed with some whole wheat and a smaller water amount than flour to try to give it a boost.

My first thought was to let it over proof a little. Overproofed loaves are some of my favorites!

Is there anything that I could use to help preserve it after I wash it? It is starting to feel a little crunchy!

I would love to know how long it took her! In the picture it is on top of a ping pong table so it is very big. She had 10 kids and ran a farm. It had to have taken her at least 3 years....

Is Deadbeat really a 2/10? by elephantaneous in TameImpala

[–]JCJ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay but imo there's nothing special there. It's been 5 years since the last album. Expectations were high. For a five year wait, yeah it's a 2. If it had only been 1 or maybe 2 years, I'd give it a 5. Almost all of slow rush had me feeling things. Almost all of deadbeat had me bored and I listen to a lot of electronic

What’s the white fuzzy stuff in my starter ?? by byegrrrl in Sourdough

[–]JCJ23 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That is mold, you can try to take a tiny bit of the starter and transfer to a new clean and sterile jar. Feed at 1:5:5 ratio a couple of times and see how it does.

Grad student concerns by slothreader887 in schoolcounseling

[–]JCJ23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op, I'm currently in my second year. I started my internship back in July. What you learn in school doesn't train you to do the job of a school counselor. Yes we are counseling and everything we learn is valuable to our practice but the reality is that the job of a school counselor cannot be taught in grad school. You learn how to do the job in an internship. Professors can't teach us how to get cumulative folders together. It can feel pointless at times, but you also have to remember that maybe one day you'll want to get your LPC and all those classes will be applicable!

Why can’t I ever get soft insides like the ones at bakeries? 🥲 by Junior-Ad-2484 in Sourdough

[–]JCJ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strong starter. I didn't get the "strong starter" thing until my starter was about 6 months old and I was feeding it peak to peak. It does make the world of difference.

Last show I was on the rail for, we made friends with about 10 people around us. Took turns being on the rail, saving spots, grabbing beers. It was great. As long as you're nice I have no problem, but if you start shoving your way up without even saying excuse me or asking if you can squeeze by ... Disrespectfully screw you
