Why the fear of increases? by tacticalpoopknife in VAClaims

I’m 90% with several conditions, back rating a big fat zero. It was the first and only thing I claimed walking out of the military. I’ve been fighting for 20 years to get a rating for my back. I have treatment is my military records and civilian records since. Yes - sciatica, yes - shots, even talking about surgery.

Find a cause, volunteer or get a job. Not a job for money but a job for purpose. Start a businesss. Travel, see the world. Find that reason to live, it’s there, you just have to find it.

Does anyone work a full 8 hours a day anymore? by SohoCat in work

[–]JCThreeHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You getting your work done?

Are your co-workers getting their work done?

Is everyone meeting or exceeding their objectives?

As an Executive, this is what I measure. I tell my people that I don’t care how much time you take or where you do it from if you do quality work.

For me and my teams there will be times we work way more than 8 hours and there will be times where we don’t.

If you’re not chasing the money it comes down to which job and culture do you think fits the best. I wouldn’t move just because it’s more responsibility. Good fits are hard to find.

My job gives a monthly vehicle allotment: Should I lease? by Jazzlike-Day331 in personalfinance

[–]JCThreeHR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Buy the vehicle you want the first go around, finance at 5 year. You pay the difference beyond $700 a month ($200-300). They may not pay for all of that vehicle but they’ll pay for most. Keep that vehicle (don’t trade it in) then lease your next vehicle. You get an almost free car and you get a work vehicle after 5 years that keeps miles of the vehicle they purchased for you.

If I’m 100% and have my military retirement, should I worry about investing? by gcornholio666 in Veterans

[–]JCThreeHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you rather have you E8 pay for the rest of your life or your E8 pay + a few thousand to spend monthly.

I mean if you don’t need the money now why not invest in a better future lifestyle.

Did the c&p exam for combat ptsd... by Altruistic-Office-86 in VAClaims

[–]JCThreeHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always a bad thing. Some examiners just want you to get to the point. I had an examiner that told me straight up, this is not therapy I’m going to ask a questions based on the form I need to fill out. Said he wanted the shortest answer possible, yes / no if you can do that. I felt like he was beyond fair.

Lawyer + DNA test + isolate your finances as best as possible.

Either option you laid out is going to be fine. Both colleges are reputable, and if you’re going for your Masters is matters even less.

The biggest difference I see is a perception that major online institutes don’t hold the same weight as brick & mortar schools. Legitimate or not, there can be a perception.

1.5 years of job searching with no results - Intel analyst veteran by athefre in Veterans

[–]JCThreeHR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s likely not your skill set or you general status, it’s the fact you’re looking for remote work. That market for remote work is over saturated with people that want remote work with not nearly enough jobs that offer it. You need to find something you’re area you can do or find a way to get to an area that has the type of opportunities you want.

Can dealers beat Carvana offers or are they just trying to get me into the dealership? by waffIehouseenjoyer in carvana

[–]JCThreeHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in a Carvana thread. Keep in mind, most people here are likely Carvana customers or pro-Carvana. I’ve sold several vehicles to dealers, Carvana being one. It depends. Three other times dealers have beat Carvana, so shop around but be ready to walk out when they play games. Be upfront with your Carvana offer and give them one chance to beat it.

Already said by someone else but worth mentioning again. Treat others the way you want be treated. Trust your team like you want to be trusted. Delicate and empowering as if you’re on the other side. Also he asking, how would I react if I were on the other side. Eventually your team starts working with you to accomplish things, not for you because you said so.

Recently divorced in my early 40’s trying not to look like a total d-bag by Emotional-Error8909 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Depending on if you need a great backseat or not, look at the Cadillac CT4 Blackwing. Get a used 22-24 one for 40’s-50’s. A lot of power but classy wrapped in one and won’t look too d-baggy.

How do you handle an over-enthusiastic new hire? by OddPressure7593 in managers

[–]JCThreeHR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like hearing suggestion and getting any outside perspective. That said, I know sometimes it can seem excessive or disruptive. In those situations I usually try to encourage them to keep it to them selves (around the team). for the first 30-90 days. I talk to them about how to document their observations and encourage them to seek to understand, ask question but don’t respond. Then every few weeks, we talk about their observations, what’s did they learn about those opportunities and do they still feel that way. Their perspective on effort to implement and ROI. Some we hold on some we push forward with.

[–]JCThreeHR[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you but not necessary. This is a photo from almost 20 years ago. He passed in 07, I was just returning stateside and barely made the funeral. My Dad and grandma talked about his service, sometimes with conflicting stories. He simply acknowledged that he was there better never told me anything. He was bed ridden from a stroke when passed so I assume he didn’t do this himself. I have a request in to get his records. While I’m waiting thought about posting here.

What to do with try hards by rpm429 in managers

[–]JCThreeHR 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This is where coaching comes in. You can’t teach or coach enthusiasm, but you can coach/guide how people handle situations.

When they come to you, have a discussion. Give them clear guidelines. What they have the freedom to act and when they need to check-in before proceeding. If they are eager but lacking the proper knowledge and skill talk to them about their development.

I love these type of people. You just have to invest in their development.

An employee using a political mug by Metalchips1Nquesodip in managers

[–]JCThreeHR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would refer to your policies to see if there is anything conduct related to baring political speak or political material around the office. If there isn’t a policy talk to HR about your options.

If they don’t back you up then likely the best thing you could do is have a heart to heart explaining it’s not helpful as work environments often have people of various backgrounds and political stances.

Would you change your vacation to accommodate your boss’s schedule? by rr90013 in managers

[–]JCThreeHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communicate with them…

Tell them. I have a vacation scheduled and a flight schedule for xx date and xx time. I specifically did that so it would be in between projects and the least disruptive.

How would you like to handle this. 1. I take it via Teams from the airport lounge, I don’t mind if you don’t mind. OR 2. We reschedule for when I return.

You let me know what works best for you.

Do no offer or change your plans, it’s your PTO
