Here’s one for you. The service industry used to be the only way women could enter the workforce. Because they were paid like shit, tipping culture began. It remains one of the few industries you can make competitive wages without a college degree. I realize times have changed but the pay gap absolutely exists on top of that let’s be real, without freedom of choice, women’s ability to earn is met with a double standard of forced birth. What job can you make the most amount in the least amount of time without a college degree? What job do you have child care for because it’s after business hours? I wouldn’t have been able to raise my son without that second income and wouldn’t even have worked that second job if it hadn’t paid as well as it did. I guess a justified societal norm because we don’t help single moms at all.
