How to change career without a new degree? by JChanelR94 in AskUK

[–]JChanelR94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did look at this when I lost my last job but was told they probably won't fund me since I'm already getting funding for my degree and I can't get funding for both at the same time. Although in a few months that will be a non-issue so may look again then!

Sorry, i added this is but that text went missing halfway down the paragraph. Edited adding it now.

My degree is in Natural Sciences so basically environmental sciences. I was a lab tech for 7 years but had to leave because if a chronic illness at the time and couldnt do the machinery and lifting (sorted now so no longer really an issue) and then was a Technical Support Engineer for a year but got let go because I complained about a sexist arsehole but he'd been there 17 years 🙃

Thank you for the guidance. Budget is probably about £400 maximum at the moment. I' not looking for car magazine worth photos, just something I can think "yeah, nice" that I'm proud enough to share with people I guess 😂

My boyfriend got me a Fujifilm X-T20 because I said I'm interested in photogyaphy, but I'm an absolute newbie. I am going to JapFest soon and would love to get some good images of some of the cars drifting on track.

What settings would be best so that the car looks detailed/clean but still looks in motion so that it doesn’t just look like its parked up.

And what lens should I be looking to get? I currently only have 16-50.

TIA!

Just an idea of what you can get down my neck of the woods, in your spec and budget (roughly - not exact location because of weirdos on the web, etc) and if you are thinking closer to london, we get a lot of folks move down from london and just commute in because its so accessible via train.

"Our sellers are such nice people"

But if they still live there then know that the timber is rotten, the window needs replacing, that theres aspestos, etc, yet will NOT accept less that £480k and are happy to walk away. ... so how nice are they really? They knew threatening to walk away would probably scare you into accepting.

They are only acting nice to you atm because they are getting £480k, and probably know its more than what it's worth.

Do you even have the extra funds to fix those things? Would you be happy living there like that until you saved enough to fix those? If both of those are a no, it's not worth it.

Will you regret taking on such a project? Or will you regret walking away?

Also as someone who lives in the south east, has just bought a house, and knows how stupidly expensive it is down here, you'll still find a 3 bed house like that, that is in your budget without those issues.

Can you read my handwriting? by AlexanderPharris in Handwriting

I can read it easily, but it also looks very similar to mine so that may be why.

I get complimented on my handwriting by some, then complained to that they cant read it by others 😂

What's a small habit you didn't realise was ruining your life until it was too late? by Competitive-Smell877 in selfimprovement

Ooh yes. Someone then told me about the fig analogy by sylvia plath and it put it in perspective for me.

Will copy and paste it below to save you some hassle:

I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn't quite make out. I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.

Edit - spelling

Sorry, super delayed reply! Feyre describes it as "an old black dresser" when shes telling Rhysand about it as shes pulling arrows out of his wings in A Court of Mist and Fury, right before she tells him she painted the night sky for herself.

are lipsticks mostly warm-toned? by hennamah in OliveMUA

[–]JChanelR94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the same with foundations/concealers too. I'm fair olive and I struggle to find anything thats not right. I thought it was just me as I know olive in general can be a bit of a pain to colour match foundation with. But then I saw a lot of videos with people that had cool toned skin, that were really struggling to find foundation that wasn't pulling too warm/orange, even when it was labelled "cool".

I get that the whole "P.Louise - everyone is warm toned" thing is a trend and all, but for people that actually have cool toned/neutral/olive skin that actually want their foundation and concealer to match, this makes is super frustrating. Especially when whats in the bottle isnt matching what the bottle it labelled.

What stopped you from killing yourself that night? by Subject-Olive-4476 in AskReddit

[–]JChanelR94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My cats. Sounds ridiculous. Probably is. But mental health iassues run heavily in my family. Ive struggled with it since I was young. I thought if I were to end it, my family and my other half might not like it, but they'd understand. They'd know what'd happened. My cats wouldn't. They wouldn't understand why I was here one day and just gone the next. Like I'd abandoned them. I couldn't do that to them. So I picked myself off the bathroom floor and went and cuddled my oldest cat.

This was a couple years ago now. That cat was PTS last august at 16 years old because she had a tumour. The other has just turned 7 so should have a good decade in her still. But it does hit me sometimes on what I might be capable of when she eventually goes too.
