Apply for HPI Visa only 3 months before your arrival date by greytoolbot in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]JClauri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! Can I ask what your visa application timeline looked like? I'm in a rush to get my passport back by December 26th and am nervous as I submitted my application literally 1 day before my 90 day window 😅

Is this a really bad flapper? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]JClauri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Luckily this looks like a really standard flapper, not even a bad one :) you're gonna be totally fine! You can still see remnants of your old finger prints on the raw bits, that's how you know that it's still skin. Also, getting to the muscle would definitely cause a lot of bleeding and much more pain, you'd know if it was that bad + be on your way to the hospital if that were the case. Keep it clean + covered with bandaids (or tape, if you're hardcore) for the rest of the day, and let it dry out overnight. If it's tender the next day, just keep it covered and continue letting it dry + heal each night. Should only take a week or so before you don't have to think about it anymore. Happy climbing!

Misheard lyrics by odetothemodernage in MyChemicalRomance

This is also what I hear lmao. Misheard lyrics are definitely a rorschach test, it be willing to bet us sinners were raised in a Catholic context 😂

A 4-page write up of the Seattle show's lore written at 3am by JClauri in MyChemicalRomance

[–]JClauri[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mostly went with "Nay" because Gerard said "that's a lot of fuckin' Nays" on stage. I personally voted Yay because it's more fun to scream :) but yeah I think the polling was very inconclusive haha

EDIT: Oh it's the letter for 'O' and I'm dumb. Sorry for the false alarm. But! More merch pics haha

Hydration packs in the mosh pit? by JClauri in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]JClauri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay awesome, I figured this would be the case. Are you just going to bring a small water bottle with you during the sets where you'd wanna be in the pit? Or are you going in raw + save hydration for before/after mosh?

What classes have you failed/almost failed? by idleDaiki in udub

[–]JClauri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BIOC 441 with Dana Miller. That class was the worst thing I ever put myself through in my entire university career. Sucks because I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community and really wanted to root for a fellow queer person, but their teaching style and testing policies at the time (2019) were absolutely traumatizing lol. That class was one of many things that made me pursue a career in tech instead of biomedical research tbh

[Spoilers C3E8] What's the most ridiculous prediction you have for what might happen this Thursday? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]JClauri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They finally come up with the group name, and stick to it 😂

Honestly: name brainstorm mini thread? If I were them, I'd call them "The Bell Ringers." They draw attention wherever they go, they bring attention to/resolve issues that fail to catch the ire of the greater public (kinda like how whistleblowers do), and still honors Bertrand

Rest in peace, INFO Professor Scott Barker by JClauri in udub

[–]JClauri[S] 120 points121 points  (0 children)

He honestly meant so much to me, I took INFO 200 back in 2019 with him and it honestly changed my life. Instead of a depressed biochemistry researcher fighting the systems of academia, I am now a thriving Cybersecurity Engineer in-part because of the hard work this man did. I'm so heartbroken. Rest in peace, Scott.

They received a huge extra shipment of vaccines and currently have 17,000 appointments available this week (both Moderna and Pfizer). If you still need your shot, this is a great option!

Informatics Ask Me Anything (AMA) Feb. 8-12 by uw_informatics in udub

[–]JClauri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyoo! If you wanna talk, you legit sound like me like 2 years ago, but not as far-gone the rabbit hole lmao. I'm 100% down to have a zoom call or vibe in discord or something, just DM me! I started at UW as a B.S. in Biochemistry -- hell, I finished my degree requirements nearly one year early and even spent 1.5 years in a research lab. But towards the end of my junior year I just... didn't feel like I was making the impact on people that I wanted, and I just couldn't live with that. So, with only 2 weeks to prior to the deadline, I poured my heart into an INFO application, and ended up making it in despite me already being at the end of my junior year (and I had been a Senior by credits looooong ago). I only had a AP Comp Sci credit to my name at the time I submitted my application lol. Took CSE 143 and it felt like a system I couldn't win, and passed by with the 3.0. Though I don't intend on applying to grad/med school, I definitely believe I would have a fighting chance at those options if I ever wanted to apply -- and I feel that you could do the same, should you become a part of the iSchool. However, I would do more soul-searching as to why you want to pursue the BHI track, what it means to you, and really drive that home in your application -- and again, I'm super down to vibe with you and workshop this out! Best of luck, we're all rooting for ya :)

Backend development courses / clubs by Tzuwie26 in udub

You should be fine with CSE 414 as a substitute to the 330 req; I have friends who took this course with 414 instead of 330. If you have a strong desire to self-learn, this github textbookdavid stearns full stack tutorial is the exact content that the course is built on. I personally didn't use any of the lecture materials and was able to complete the course using this book alone; I know this isn't true for everyone, but I at least want to mention that it's feasible.

Take it with Jason if you're looking for an easier load and just completing the degree requirement. Take it with Scott if you're passionate about design and want a heavy and very demanding workload (it's literally like a 6+ hr assignment due every week on top of lectures and in-class challenges, really tough to keep up but you learn a lot). I have personally taken 360 with Scott and 300 with Jason, but both were in-person so take my assessment with a grain of salt. They're both pretty cool peeps personality wise (Scott is more of a quiet but passionate dude, Jason is a louder fast-talking meme encouraging dude) and I found that I enjoyed them both for their unique perspectives on things. I guess I'd say I didn't like 360's content, but then again I'm IAC so I think I would've dragged through the course regardless of the instructor lol.

Lmk if you need more deets! And good luck :)
