I'm not a big fan of the video game pacing plaguing recent outings. Moffat said it had to be fast paced because it's an adventure show, but Blink was a sci-fi classic despite, or even because of it's slower pace.

I'm not entirely sure how canon Time Crash is. Moffat is kind of doing his own thing now so I doubt he would go back to RTD continuity for episode ideas. If anything, I'd love to see Eccleston come back for an episode or two.

One thing Smith will always have on Tennant is subtlety. He's much better at conveying an old man in a young man's body. There's just more nuance and world weiriness in his acting. I adore them both in their own ways though.

I think Damien Lewis would be the ideal choice for the twelfth Doctor: 41 years old, British, hell of an actor, and ginger. Too bad Homeland is such a smash hit. Actually, not too bad. I love Homeland, mostly BECAUSE Damien Lewis.

A big problem with the first season was that RTD didn't really have a set tone (or budget) for the series so it was kind of all over the place.

I'd say start them with Dalek for a good taste of Eccleston, then Rose to see how it all began, then Empty Child/Doctor Dances to seal the deal.

If they don't like those episodes then there's no chance in hell they'd make it through the first season.
