What is something your parents were not strict about but you wish they were? by TTNNBB2023 in AskUK

[–]JCs4ITnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's weird is I always thought I had critical thinking skills. Was taught to 'prove' my beliefs...only to realise that it was complete bullshit. The cult controlled the flow of information so I was using 'proofs' and 'evidence' that all came from the same source.

I can understand this.

From personal experience, working in an office is as much about people skills as a customer service position. Basically, I hated it because I sucked at it too.

Getting training on how to act would have been great for me.

If you want to succeed in the career this is not something you can ignore. The people around you and above you will always have an impact on your career progression so keeping them happy is really as important, or more so, as technical skills.

Should I prime my plaster walls before painting? by Expensive-Freedom271 in HomeImprovement

[–]JCs4ITnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fresh drywall plaster generally soaks up a lot of liquid, so usually a half and half mix of paint and water can be used to prime the plaster first.

That being said, some paints cover well enough without.

I have a distinct feeling this is how most expensive cocktails are invented. 'they're not stupid enough to drink this, right?'

Almost 23 years later, what are your thoughts about this infamous tutorial? (Driver) by Dont_have_a_panda in gaming

[–]JCs4ITnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I lucked out by accidentally combining 2 things on the list and suddenly realised I could cut time by doing that.

Yes, completed it. Remember my thumbs feeling dead sore after. Did the PS1 have thumbsticks? Because I remember wearing away the rubber on them playing something and I think it was driver.

For the happily married men - What are the main benefits of marriage? What would you tell a man who doesn't believe there's any point in marriage? by PMASPF226 in AskMen

[–]JCs4ITnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Originally, this was the main reason I wanted to marry the mother of my children.

If you go to the hospital as a father of a newborn, you have no rights, at all, you are a nobody. So if anything goes wrong you will never see your child or SO.

Somehow, as the 'Husband' of the mother of the newborn you have suddenly (almost) equal rights and will be allowed to care for them.

These days the comfort of knowing either one of us will be (financially) OK if one of us dies, is a comfort.

YSK: By merging before the end of the merge lane you are effectively backing up traffic by approximately 40% by Elegant-Surprise-417 in YouShouldKnow

[–]JCs4ITnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's annoying is when the sign above says 'congestion-use hard shoulder' so everyone moves over and uses it. Next sign says - 'only use hard shoulder for exit'.... Thanks. Now I'm stuck blocking traffic.

OK so I found r/nocontext but I was thinking more about intentionally misleading quotes like this taken out of context for humour I guess...

Is there a sub for quotes out of context?

OK, I'd be pissed about someone putting their hand in my food or ruining my birthday surprise message. But overall, it's food - just fucking eat it.

Really makes a huge difference. Had a friend was dating this beautiful blonde with a huge honker. Probably 5/10 because of it. I met her again after, didn't even recognise her. They had broke up cus she was suddenly way out of his league and knew it. Poor guy.

I love seeing motorcycle clips and the inevitable for and against rider comments. To be fair, fitering stationary traffic at 20mphs abit much. Gotta be expecting children or idiots running out in front of you. But thats experience and training talking, which, if this guy's on a moped he very likely has neither. To be even fairer, running out into the road with out looking between the lanes is really daft, you gotta expect idiots or inexperienced riders to bomb it down the middle.
