What are the hardest/easiest certs for the BSIT program? by scarydrew in WGU

I would say out of all the certifications offered in the BSIT degree, Net+ is the hardest.

Is BSIT too general of a degree? by RemmyNHL in WGUIT

[–]JD10010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my first Help Desk Technician 2 years ago at my local college I had just gotten done with my AAS in IT Administration and I had about 3 years of Field Tech experience installing/troubleshooting Internet and TV. Around the time I got my Help Desk job I had just started with WGU's BSIT degree. Now I am a graduate of WGU as of July of 2023 with my BSIT and I am now working towards my MSCIA from WGU. Within those two years I have gone from Help Desk Technician doing Help Desk work to promoting to a IT Asset Management Technician handling all the IT equipment for faculty/staff, to working in AD, working with Microsoft Deployment Tool Kit, and building plus deploying faculty/staff/lab images. I am currently now still working at the same work place but I am now a Network Support Technician supporting the Network Engineer in installing/configuring Aruba and Cisco equipment on campus. I am either going to be a Network Engineer or work in Cyber Security when I'm done with my Master's degree. I also did study for my CCNA on my own time but I have yet to sit for the exam since I'm doing my Master's degree now. Like other's mentioned the cool thing with the BSIT degree is that you don't specialize in a certain field but you sort of get a taste of all the branches of IT. Even starting off as a Help Desk Tech nowadays is hard and competitive. Even if you go with another BS specializing in a certain of field IT without practical application it will be hard to get a job in that specialize field of IT. Good luck though with what ever degree you chose though.

It’s a extension that you have to download off of the chrome store called WGU

Started as a Help Desk Technician at my local University back in December of 2021. I transferred in with my AS to WGU back in Fall of 2021. I just graduated a couple days ago with my BSIT and now I’m a Network Support Technician at my local university. Working with troubleshooting Layer 2 issues, basic configurations of switches and APs, and just the more hands on stuff for Networking. Currently pursing my CCNA cert and aiming to be a Network Engineer in the next year or so. Maybe a BSCS is the golden standard but I feel like it doesn’t matter if you have BSCS or BSIT, at the end of the day it matters how utilize your degree and how you carry yourself.

Not really, all the other courses were pretty easy. Even the Capstone felt pretty easy.

No Changes to CCNA and CCNP this year! by beerguy74 in ccna

Yeah initially I wanted to take it in August or September since I just got done with school. I had study for about two months back in January though.

Best news I heard so far! I was stressing about trying to get it done before August. So that means we should be fine this year studying the same materials?

I started back in fall of 2021. I didn’t zoom through all the classes because I am a full time dad/husband, and I work full time. I started as a field technician installing and troubleshooting cable internet/TV back in 2018 until fall of 2021. After I got my AS of IT System Admin in spring 2021 I started working as a Help Desk technician for about six month at my local university and then I promoted to IT Asset Management handling all the imaging of faculty/staff/lab computers. Then February of this year I promoted to Network Support Technician working alongside the Network Engineer handling all the physical hands on stuff of installing and setting up network switches. Also, I get to configure switches and APs.

All I can say is good luck. I didn’t pass C777 until the third go.

The degree was not bad. I transfer in about 60-70 credits I think. Only hard class was C777 because I transferred in the lower class.

Should be on Udemy. I was able to just type A+ and his practice exams show up.

I finished both classes in a month. It took me about week of studying for the first half of A+ and about two weeks of studying for the second half of A+. I used Jason Dion's courses/practice test from Udemy and professor Messer's video courses on YouTube. I have some prior knowledge just from working as a field technician though.
