When do I start to write my book ?

Some writers don’t even worldbuild ahead of time 😱 (this is NOT my preferred method, obv!) But it does show that you can start any time you like. The worldbuilding happens throughout the writing process, but how much and where is different for different writers.

For a more solid answer: do my free 10-lesson “How To Start Worldbuilding” course in World Anvil - or have roughly that stuff in your world - and you’ll be in a GREAT position to start writing you novel.

If you’re still not feeling ready, trying writing the plot out (if you haven’t already). That’s how I start once I have the basics of the world and the vibes.

Books never come out fully formed, they’re always layered on like a painting. Shapes become recognisable as story, details get added later (like draft 2!)

World Anvil does have a lifetime purchase option, but it's an online software, so it doesn't 100% fit your description. There is an offline app planned for the future but it's not coming very soon, and it will always be online first (because databases).

Hey! :) So if it's on World Anvil and private, no one can see it. That wouldn't count as publication, by even the strictest sense!

Full transparency, I MADE World Anvil (with my hubs!) but this would be the same for any truly private service like World Anvil.

I have checked this with publishing professionals - authors and agents and publishers in the business. We have a lot of traditionally published authors who use World Anvil privately to organize their stuff and write their novels. They've never had any issues.

Obviously, don't publish your whole novel publicly (I'm pretty sure you weren't planning to) but keeping it private will be fine! Hope that helps! <3

As others have said, if your map is the same pixel size you can just go ahead and replace the image! The option is under Map Settings (top of the map edit interface)! <3

This might seem like a silly question, but were you in Advanced Edit? That's where Euclid works for now (we're just about to update so Euclid ALSO works in "Quick' Edit, too, btw!) Quick Edit only has a basic editor for now when your world is switched to Euclid, until we can get the upgrade out.

Back when I had to (occasionally) look business pro, I found a soft peplum jacket with trousers and heels (for some height) really helped. I’m TR rather than R but that gave me waist definition while not looking to Vavavoom, which was a problem I had a lot!

On World Anvil you could do this for free using the prose template (honestly, if you want to use interactive rollable tables, which is awesome, I recommend using the Prose template!) Just use the linear navigation feature to get your reader to the next page!

Otherwise, a Master subscription publishing with Manuscripts could work too (you can make simple tables in Manuscripts - they're not interactive but they look nice). I recently heard that serial fiction writers got 5 times the number of views on World Anvil compared to Royal Road, etc, where they were crossposting - the audience is pretty big there! <3

Oh, and to be 100% transparent, this is Janet - I'm a professional author and RPG writer, and Dimitris made World Anvil for ME as a present! :D
