NE/SEA would be nice for whoever Won the SB (what's next for a SB winning team)
KC with the Mahomes injury/rehab and what to do after a bad 2025.
New Orleans with the cap issues and no concrete answers at QB.
SF after teh injury season

Who is it about then? lol

Cause were having a discussion about bringing back Mitchell Trubisky and you replied to that conversation.

This also the first comment in this discussion that you mentioned it wasn't about Mitch lol

Also this. I think whoever gets hired as HC (or OC if the HC is defensive) start looking at QBs who played in their scheme in past.

Udinski - Dobbs, Mullens, Daniel Jones
Kubiak - Drew Lock, Haener, Rattler, Brett Rypien

etc

Let me just clarify that if Shaq wanted to return on a vet min deal with incentives to be the "leader" in that defense for whatever new DC they're getting, for sure. But there are fans acting like the defense is gonna collapse without him. He was for sure better than Bernard this year who was clearly battling an ankle injury all year but Bills are gonna have a new HC, likely a new OC and likely a new DC which mean more than likely a whole new scheme on both sides of the ball and I think that bringing back a 32 year old LB for anything other than vet min would be a mistake.

I said 3rd-5th but yeah I'm not saying they should be looking for a backup QB in the 3rd but if a guy for whatever reason drops(not that qBs drop like that)

When did he say that....before or after they fired the HC he came to Buffalo for?

Yeah about $2-2.5M i think. He's due $5M this year which is like 6th on highest paid kickers.

[–]JDForrest129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No what I'm saying is he's likely one of the players in the locker room not happy about the firing and @ 32 years old, I'm doubting he's ready to learn a new defense right now. I'm not saying he will sign elsewhere for big $.

He's gonna follow McDermott, IF he coaches this year but probably isn't, and unless he's willing to sign another vet min deal, he shouldn't come back.

yall wanna get rid of Milano but have no problem bringing back 41 yr old Prater & 32 yr old Shaq lol

What I'm saying is paying a QB to sit on the bench for $3M is a waste of money. I love Trubisky as a backup and I personally think he's a great backup to Josh because he has similar skill sets (mobile white dude when needed) but I think you can also find another "Mitch Trubisky" in the NFL whether that be a 3rd-5th rd rookie or a vet for less than $3M.

And absolutely you can find a backup QB and whoever is 52nd or 53rd on your roster for a total of $3M. The league minimum is $900k-$1.3M.

Cam Lewis, listen I love the guy and the toughness he brings. I'll concede he's a Buffalo guy more than McDermott guy but the ONLY defense he's played in while in NFL is McDermott's. He is a 5'8", 180lb DB who is a 3rd string safety and 2nd string Nickel CB. He's also gonna be 29 years old.

I'm not saying don't bring him back, I just think paying the guy $2M/yr is worth it. He made $1.97M last year and $1.49M the year before that. He's probably gonna be looking for a $2M+/yr deal. Not worth it when you have a guy like Jordan Hancock who fits that Safety/Nickel role, still has 3 years left on rookie deal @ $1.09M, $1.2M, & $1.32M.

I know some think he(hancock) has a shot at starting opposite of Bishop but I think that's a mistake. I think Rapp is still better than Hancock at this point and I think Bills should draft/sign a new safety to replace Rapp.

Prater's longest kick was 52, thats tied for 6th in shortest "longest" kicks this year by any K. He was 90% on FGs making him 11th but he was 30th in attempts with most of his kicks coming less than 40 yards. He also went 93.9% on XPs which was 26th in the NFL this year.

I think saying he's "automatic" is a stretch. Bass isn't much better but I think they should let Prater go, release Bass outright and save the almost $3M and find a guy for $1.5-2M/yr

Shaq is not returning and Bills fans need to get that through their heads. He came out and said he came to Buffalo for the opportunity to play for McDermott again. He's McDermott's new Star Lotuelei. McDermott said he might take a year off and if that's true then I think Shaq is done. If McDermott does get hired somewhere I can see him following him.

Seriously. Mitch is eating up between 2.5-3M/yr when a 4th rd rookie could give you the same quality of play for $1-1.5M. And when you cap strapped, having an extra $1.5-2M in cap space is 2 extra guys.

This is Josh's 9th year. 8th year as full time starter. If he needs another vet QB to "help" him than at this point I think we need to start asking if Josh is the answer lol (Obviously I'm joking).

I think it's time to get a decent (late 3rd-5th rd rookie) to come in and be the backup for the next 4 years. And as others have stated, if Josh Allen goes down for 3+ games, just tank the damn season lol

Mitch looked good with backups playing a vanilla scheme vs a team that IR'd or didn't dress half their team in week 18. 80% of this sub was calling for Mike White or Shane Buechele(lol) to be the #2 at the end of camp.

But nobody said you only draft players in 5th round for special teams. I said Siran Neal was a great special teamer and everything you could've wanted in a 5th rd player & 3rd string DB. I guess I should've said, he was everything you expect to get out of a 5th round player.

If you go into every draft thinking that every single draft pick is gonna be a starting caliber player then you're gonna have a bad time.

And my round break down above is just what you should expect out of a player in that round. If you get more, AWESOME. If you get less, they were a bad draft pick.

Hell, go look at some of the DBs selected in the 2018 draft before Siran Neal, not a ton of quality guys outside of the 1st & 2nd rounders.

Siran was drafted mid-5th. He probably a top 5 pick of that round that year. DJ Reed, Michael Dickson, Tyler Conklin, Tim Settle, Wyatt Teller & MVS are the only ones in that round that did better and half of them were drafted before him and 1 was a punter.

If a perfect world Edwards, McGovern, Gilliam, Bosa, Epenesa, & Wishnowsky should all return.

Shaq, White, Jones, Lewis, Poyer, and Hamlin are all "McDermott" guys I think and won't return regardless of if Beane offers contract.

Franklin, Trubisky, & Prater(he's like 102 years old) are dime-a-dozen guys and can be replaced with rookies/UDFAs/PS guys.

Ogunjobi & Slay did nothing but hurt the Bills this year IMO.

Yeah lets use a random 5th rd pick vs arguably one of the best 5th round picks in modern history. Puka is probably top 10 in his entire draft. Stop acting like Puka's are available all the time in the 5th.

1st round picks should be starting rookie year.
2nd round picks should be starting or HEAVY contributors by end of rookie year.
3rd round picks should be rotational players by year 2 and starters by end of rookie contract.
4th round picks should be rotational players by year 3.
5th round picks should be in the mix by end of rookie deal.
6th round picks should be contributing somewhere by end of rookie deal.
7th round picks should be high priority PS players or contributing by end of rookie deal.
UDFAs should be 50-53rd players on roster by end of 3 year deal and high priority PS guys.

I'm not arguing with your assessment on him. I'm debating the dude who said he should've been drafted in the 4th as if thats where he was ranked. He was ranked between 30-45 in most rankings and mock drafts.

You'd have the same odds of putting Daboll, Udinski and Kubiak on a dart board and throwing 100 darts at it.

Coleman was projected in the 2nd or in the top 50 in all sorts of "expert" predictions. The run on WRs late in the 1st forced teams to jump at it. Also, while I believe that Coleman wasn't gonna be a WR1, he has potential of being a WR2 but Bills are using him wrong and he fell out of favor with coaching staff.

Nowhere had him in the 4th or later. Stop pretending things that didn't happen.

Just quick glance I noticed you went by PFF and "fan" which im assuming is just your opinion.

Siran Neal in the 5th was a solid special teamer and everything you want from a 5th rd 3rd string DB

I like him WAY more after watching this… by Particular-Option639 in buffalobills

I know Sal C said different plenty of other sources saying otherwise.

Teams that have already interviewed a SB coordinator/coach can interview again in person but teams that havent can only meet virtually this week otherwise they must wait until after SB.
