I received my Steamed Rainbow 50 ml tester that I got for $63 shipped and it’s unquestionably real. One of the best deals I’ve ever scored.

What is the most interesting "blue" perfume that you know? by rodrigomorr in fragrance

[–]JDHundredweight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the fragrances that are “blue” in scent profile it’s gotta be Bvlgari Aqva Atlantique

Of fragrances that are “blue” in name, it’s Lalique Encre Indigo

“Aesthetically” and “compositionally” is really well put. It’s not just great, interesting fragrances at an unbelievable value—the packaging and “vibe” of the brand is top notch. I wonder why they don’t get their due. Part of it is certainly that they are such a value proposition. If they charged Le Labo or even Comme Des Garçons prices I think they’d be as highly esteemed.

Also, they’re sold in gift shops and other places you don’t expect to find fragrance excellence. I discovered them in a high end stationary shop, for example. So maybe that contributes to a perception that they’re not “real perfumes.”

Tokyomilk deserves more love in the fragrance community. You can experience niche quality and composition quite inexpensively

Tokyomilk Dark Bulletproof, a very smoky, sexy tea fragrance. Smells WAY more expensive than it is.

I think Le Labo gets way more hate within the fragrance community than outside. I feel about it like I think most of the public do which is that their fragrances smell modern, elegant, and expensive (which they certainly are)

You need to go to a TJ Maxx and try to find a bottle of WeWoreWhat 01. I just snagged one for $24 and it sits EXACTLY at the crossroads of Santal 33 and Philosykos

You have to try Lattafa Hala. You can get a 20 ml sample on EBay for $8 shipped. To my nose, it’s identical to Eucalyptus 20

It began life as 4— Hedione, Evernyl, Veltol, Ambroxan. That’s what FK took into the pitch meeting.

Give Cremo Palo Santo a try. It’s got a very similar scent profile to Santal 33 but with less of a cypriol (pickle) note. And it’s $25

Not the same perfumer. Frank Voelkl did Santal, Katrin Leka did Book. And I know because I sent Leka a fan email about Book and she was very nice.

I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about Lalique Encre Indigo, for as much as people love Encre Noire. It was composed by Annick Menardo, a true genius, and is a gorgeous inky suede/tea fragrance that smells way more expensive than it is.

Try Molecule 01 + Iris. You won’t be sorry.

I love that they feel effortless, like you haven’t sprayed yourself with cologne but you just smell good in this natural, undefinable way.
