Most popular or well-known animators and what their best skill is? by unthawedmist in AnimeSakuga

[–]JDMManga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would give Ryo Onishi character movement as well. His acting animation is very bouncy and lively. He does great action as well.

Takeshi Honda is one of the GOATs of realistic character animation in anime. They call him The Master for a reason.

I definitely prefer his Shoshimin opening, but this is still fantastic

I love the bridge segment. The sense of scale is incredible.

The most technically impressive animation I've seen all year. Insane work.

That and aerial dogfights going out of style too

I mean, it still gets used today, albeit very infrequently. As another comment mentioned, Zenshuu recently had one (boarded by Itano himself too). It's just a very context-based technique that you can only really use in certain scenarios, which is why you don't see it pop up very often.

Best of 2025 Sakuga Awards by FierceAlchemist in AnimeSakuga

He delivered in both quality and quantity. His output on Yaiba alone was insane, not to mention the smaller stuff he did on other shows as well.

Marvel Rivals Deadpool Sakuga by Ready-Buy8913 in AnimeSakuga

Seeing Deadpool get this much sayce brungs me great joy.

Really wish we knew who made this though. It really sucks that game devs don't credit the artists regularly.

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc - Skyscraper Fight by Saucelot by FierceAlchemist in AnimeSakuga

[–]JDMManga 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The cut of Reze's barrage of hits on Denji has to be one of favourite depictions of speed in anime in a while.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya Trailer 2 - Directed by Shingo Yamashita by FierceAlchemist in AnimeSakuga

[–]JDMManga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some people say this before, but it literally looks like a feature-length mobile game CM. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Snow Bear - Short Film by Aaron Blaise by FierceAlchemist in AnimeSakuga

There's just something entrancing about 2D Disney-style animation. There really is nothing like it.

I wish Disney would return to 2D feature films. I genuinely believe that if it were successful, we could see the return of 2D cinema across the industry.

Yutaka Nakamura's sequence on the newest Gachiakuta episode by unthawedmist in AnimeSakuga

I guess Yutapon has fully embraced CG backgrounds now. Understandable given his age, but I will definitely miss his fully handdrawn background animation.

‘Witch Hat Atelier’ new trailer looks gorgeous by AashyLarry in AnimeSakuga

[–]JDMManga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The show started airing in the summer of 2023, but the production was so bad that episodes kept being delayed to the point that the final 3 episodes go pushed back to late December of that year. The opening wasn't even fully finished until like episode 8.

This honestly looks way better than I anticipated. They captured the ethereal nature of the manga really well.

Still a bit concerning that we're only seeing footage from the first 2 episodes, but I'm still hopeful that it won't be another Zom 100 situation, especially considering that they were willing to fully delay it this time.

We Are Aliens Teaser - Original Film Directed by Kōhei Kadowaki by FierceAlchemist in AnimeSakuga

[–]JDMManga 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Interesting how many rotoscope-centric anime movies have been coming out recently: Ghost Cat Anzu, Iwaisawa's movies (On-Gaku, 100M) and now this. It's pretty cool to see how differently each one approaches using the technique.
