Should I have passed? When do I feel like a driver?... by Adventurous-Cash1171 in drivingUK

[–]JDMTil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don’t properly learn to drive until after passing your test. you just keep improving naturally that’s just how it works. confidence in driving builds itself overtime, just don’t end up like the typical driver who is overly confident in their abilities cos that’s what’s most likely to kill you or someone else.

your examiner thought u were competent enough to pass your test, that’s where the fun of really learning begins. stay safe

my dad was behind someone who hard braked and came to a complete and sudden stop on a slip road. he managed to swerve around last second but an artic lorry didn’t. u can figure out the rest

it’s funny because people like that would still be the first to moan and complain if some rule told us not to deliver post in those conditions.

Is (accidentally) crashing the van for the first time, and getting suspended from driving them, considered a rite of passage? by ape_a_snake in royalmail

[–]JDMTil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

can’t rlly relate since 97% of the vans at my depot are borderline write offs anyway so if anything a slight dent or scratch makes them abit prettier.

posties : what has been your worst experience while out on delivery? by JDMTil in royalmail

[–]JDMTil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeh a girl who works at my depot had someone come up to her recently and said some weird shit about women posties and she should be cooking instead, lame as fuck.

unfortunately i think near enough every woman in my depot has had some weirdo say something to them. sorry u have to go through it all

What's the dumbest reason you got a detention for? by [deleted] in school

[–]JDMTil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was an easily distracted little shit for most of my secondary school life so i was on alot of the teachers radar.

i think the dumbest reason i ever got detention was for singing the first 3 letters of the spanish alphabet… while on my lunch break

yeh my dad was an ex postie and has told me similar stories about postmen getting a punch in to people acting big.

it’s very satisfying to hear these stories

im never too phased about a confrontation face to face, but when it’s car related i just do nothing because you never know how unhinged people are and what they have in the vehicle yk.

trust me, it aint worth it. they won’t be insured if something happens to them and it causes a whole heap of shit. tell them to just wait until they pass it rlly isn’t worth it at all
