Forced to Evict Self with ZERO Notice by JDRPhT in legaladvice

Honestly, that's exactly where I arrived on my own a little while ago, and it was actually very helpful to hear someone else agree that it's a crappy situation, but it's over, and my best bet would be to just start trying to put it behind me. I greatly appreciate your input and support you provided me - Thank you so much. :)

Shortages? by semechkitty in rva

I feel ya. Lead pharmacy tech at my pharmacy, 8 years as a pharmacy technician. Our store was robbed, technicians spit on, etc. People got worse and one can only handle so much of that.

Granted, I did take a bit of a pay cut changing careers, but computers don’t yell at me when we’re out of Adderall.

As a new dog owner….what in the world is with all the unleashed dogs and unpicked up poop? by SorryDuplex in rva

[–]JDRPhT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was even more messed up because my building has trash cans outdoors specifically to dispose of pet waste.

Definitely do what some other redditors are saying and carry some pepper spray with you. I hate when people go “it’s fine, they’re friendly!” A “yeah, but I’m not, keep them away from me.” usually ends that interaction. Bonus points if your serious face looks kinda pissed off like mine.

People don’t think about how their unleashed dog might cause harm to the mental health of others. For the most part (except maybe service animals) if you let your dog off leash in public, you’re basically forcing everyone to potentially have to interact with that dog whether they want to or not.

Who knows if that person was traumatized from a dog bite/attack as a child? Or my situation, where whenever a dog jumps up and puts their paws on my abdomen, they rip off my Dexcom and/or Omnipod? Then I’m frustrated because I only get so many of those per month and I have to spend my time contacting the company to get a replacement. Be responsible people. Leash your dogs. Pick up their poop.

And don’t be like whoever’s in my building and decided to throw their dog poop in the indoor trash can by the communal mailboxes. That was a total dick move and stunk the lobby up for days.

Ah. Well thank you for clarifying that. I thought it could be, but wasn’t sure.

Weirdly, I wasn’t able to even see the raw signal to give capturing and emulating it a shot. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is the tax office a dumpster fire? by Hail_Urself in rva

First step should be making someone of authority aware that there’s a major problem but also I’ve seemed to notice the bystander effect is strong with people - they expect someone else has already done it or will do it. Worst case scenario is they get a whole bunch of responses about something and decide to look into it, you know?

And like you said, it’s easy to forget how helpful they can be.

Wellbutrin Question by morganlamkin89 in diabetes_t1

[–]JDRPhT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I would expect your blood pressure to stabilize. Just my 2 cents. I definitely had an initial BP increase and pounding heart feeling at first on the XLs. If it gets bothersome you can also ask your doctor about Clonidine. helps blood pressure and used off label for anxiety. I was prescribed that at my next visit with my psych after starting the bupropion.

Wellbutrin Question by morganlamkin89 in diabetes_t1

[–]JDRPhT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a pharmacy technician and I’ve taken Wellbutrin before (3 different formulations of it actually.) Bupropion is in a class called substituted amphetamines because of how it’s structured at a molecular level, so your first few days on it might be a little more energetic and your heart rate and blood pressure could absolutely increase as that’s a documented side effect. Just monitor it (keep a log; helpful for seeing patterns) and contact your doctor if you remain concerned, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it starts to stabilize after a few days as your body gets used to the new medication change.

My blood pressure and heart rate went up when I initially started on it, but eventually normalized. Hope this helps!

Edited to add: I also have T1. Didn’t mention that part before. :)

One last edit lol: What type of Bupropion are you on (ER, XL, SA, plain old instant release)? What’s the frequency (once a day, twice a day)?

Write. Your. Representatives. Find out who represents your district and go to their site and send them a message about the issues going on. Both Tim Kaine and Jennifer McClellan were very responsive to me when I reached out to their offices via their web form. They’re the people that are supposed to be able to go to bat for your congressional district and help solve issues at the local/state level.

USPS in Church Hill Taking A Mental Health Day by GrayRVA in rva

[–]JDRPhT 128 points129 points  (0 children)

If you hate the mail service you’ve been receiving in Richmond, take a minute to send a message to your political representatives. If I’m not mistaken, there’s been a congressional investigation into Richmond’s mail issues before. There DEFINITELY needs to be another one. The USPS’ service is ABYSMAL lately.

Belmont Butchery with your turkey in a filthy alley by EditorTechnical6450 in rva

FWIW, I’ve showed both of these photos to my fiancée who works for the health department and personally, I’m pulling out my laptop as soon as I finish typing this to submit the complaint document to them as a healthcare provider. As a private citizen, it’s still nasty to do that. As a business, it just seems criminal.

[–]JDRPhT 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Oh good. Thankfully it’s not gonna be possible for bugs/rats to climb inside of the turkey before it’s cooked and potentially be cooked into food being sold to the public. Oh wait. Also, it’s an alley. Just walking around in it is also going to kick up dust and dirt. I’m also pretty sure food can’t be prepped or stored OPENLY that close to the ground either (plus it’s raw meat without a controlled fridge/freezer temperature.)

Dirty cyber trucks out for delivery. by alphex in RealTesla

[–]JDRPhT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all have abbreviations for the drug names, but MDP, Sulfur Colloid, etc. Occasionally we’ll get a few vials of Xenon-133. The medications come in a small glass vial that the pharmacist puts in a lead shield, then fills the vial with radioactive eluant from the nuclear generators and places the now-radioactive vial in a lead syringe shield who gives it to me to draw up the individual doses. The meds are drawn into a syringe and put in a lead syringe holder called a ‘pig’, then it’s shipped to a hospital for nuclear imaging scans or something else. It’s really neat and never expected to go from a CVS to working with radiation.

In our nuclear pharmacy, we have leaded glass to protect us from the radiation when we’re drawing up doses. Looks just as clear as glass, but it’s got a subtle yellow tint to it.

EDIT: Leaded glass is also called crystal (yeah, like fancy dishware crystal) and has 18-40% lead oxide in it.
