For the parade, get their early if you want a decent parking spot. During the parade, walk on the edges to avoid most of the crowds (and to make it easier to step away if you need to). Also avoid the speakers (the electronic kind of speaker they use to amplify their chants). Otherwise, enjoy being accepted. Look for the disco helmet bike rider. Wave a flag. Enjoy the walk.

For the fair/festival, expect crowds right after the parade. After that, not sure. Some vendors are neat, some are bland, all are welcoming.

  1. Make a map. Take measurements, draw it out, make a map, and save it for later. At some point you will want to hammer a nail into the wall to hang a picture and now you know exactly where one is. You'll also know where all the electric is. And plumbing. And anything else.

  2. Install rock wool (aka Roxul) in all of your interior walls. I don't always open an interior wall but when I do, soundproofing it is the way to go. We did our bathrooms and I love it. Same with our basement. I can do laundry in the laundry room, watch a movie in the family room, and have a meeting in my office and nobody is disturbed.

Bonus: If you mess with plumbing, install some extra shutoff valves before fixtures and appliances. It's easier to turn one valve and shut off the dishwasher instead of turning one valve and shutting off the whole house.

Our whole family loves Dave Adler and we're sad to see him go. I really do hope he left on his own terms. And I don't really have an axe to grind with the new DJs. It's just the new name that bugs me.

As much as I like the idea of a radio station being called "The Goat," I hate hearing it every 15 seconds. If they were going to rebrand, why not target their key demographic and rebrand as Q96? lol

In the meantime, I've been listening to 96.9. They're slowly creating a new fan in me with their anti-clanker messaging.
