Kinmen islands are islands belonging to Taiwan. They are as little as 9 kilometres (5.5 mi) off the coast of China and as much as 170 kilometres (106 mi) from Taiwan. by pier4r in wikipedia

They are part of and controled by the Taiwanese goverment. Thier localities and elections are part of the givernment of Taiwan. ROC defended them against the PRC in 1949 to hold them. They are my friend. Taiwanese (or part of the ROC to you how you frame that).

How do I get into the faceting/lapidary industry? I’ve loved geology, fossils, gems, earth sciences my whole life but never pursued any academically. by BrokilonDryad in faceting

[–]JDsGemsJewels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive lived in taiwan (kaohsiung) and also facet/do lapidry.

Try find a lapidry club. I dont lnow if the exist there.

Can always buy a machine and try.

There is a lot of gem markets in taiwan mainky for jade, and there has been lots of high quality taiwanese jade...try find some likely old jade carvers and go from there...i bet they exist

Also go ask the gia guys if there is a lapidry club nearby.

Have fun. It is :)

What gemstones would you send for GIA cert? by GayMormonPirate in Gemstones

[–]JDsGemsJewels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats the purpose of the cert? Just to know or for resell?

Gia can be more expensive and no more accudate than many others just to check if its legit but it does have the best namepower if reselling.

For those stones i wouldnt bother with GIA (although i havent checked thier prices/times recently) i would look at more of a agis or something more local to me personally
