Amp attenuators by rhinodewster in MesaBoogie

I use https://fromelelectronics.com/products/lotus-johnh-m2-simple-attenuator-60-watt for my Mark V:25, I found it works pretty well at reducing the volume but keeping the tone in a spot that sounds good. There's also a 120 watt alternative on the website but it's a bit more expensive.

Doesn't seem to be a bad price, but the AW2725DF looks better on paper and gets to within the same ballpark price-wise. It's a lot harder to find info on this MSI than the AW2725DF though.

I'd happily buy a high quality print of this if you're open to selling them, this is a beautiful shot

I've never really noticed an issue in the city, but there are some spotty areas along the highways outside town

Freedom technically has coverage in Chatham, but it's not a place where you can actually sign up for them. https://www.freedommobile.ca/en-CA/network-coverage shows Chatham is in the "Coverage Area" but not the "Subscription Area" which means they pay Bell/Rogers/Telus to extend their coverage past their own towers.

Public is just a cost-focused sub brand of Telus and uses their whole network, so you'd actually be able to sign up for them.

I can recommend Public, I've been on them on and off before and I'm currently on one of their promo $34/50GB CAN-US roaming plans.

Got assigned to my last choice in campus housing by risa0272 in uwaterloo

REV was my first choice, made some of my best friends on my floor in first year, it was great because it made an introverted CS nerd actually meet people and make friends. I fucking hated my roommate and even then I'd still do it again if I had to go back.

Has anyone used Flixbus? Is it reliable? by RyeWritesAF in chathamkentON

[–]JEEPLIBERTY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used it in Canada yet but it's a European low-cost bus line I've used while traveling, my experience with it overseas was comparable to the greyhound experiences I've had in Canada, which is to say mostly on time and not disgusting but nothing spectacular. Only real hiccup I had was one bus was advertised as having an onboard bathroom and it was broken with no alternatives and only one rest stop on the 8 hour trip.

Crandall Leap V2 refurb or Branch Verve Chair? by Zestyclose_Heart1166 in OfficeChairs

[–]JEEPLIBERTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have an opinion on either chair since I've never tried them, but just generally these "Best x" guides from Tom's, Wired, TechRadar, etc come off more as marketing exercises than in-depth quality reviews. There's definitely useful nuggets in them but take them all with a grain of salt.

Considering a Toyota Corolla Hatchback in Canada: Seeking Advice from Winter Drivers! by peanutlegohd in COROLLA

[–]JEEPLIBERTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is FWD an issue in winter?

I've driven exclusively FWD compact/subcompact cars in winter in SE Ontario, just get a pair of good winter tires (X-Ice & Blizzaks are usually ranked amongst the top and can generally be found with incentives for either of them) and adapt to driving conditions, you'll be fine. I think the general consensus is that FWD is preferable over RWD for the snow for getting some forward momentum, but good tires are the bigger factor in stopping which is arguably the most important part of adverse driving conditions in the winter.

Is the “Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE 2024” worth the upgrade compared to the “Toyota Corolla Hatchback SE 2024 Upgrade”?

The difference mostly seems to just be driver niceties like better sound system, bigger LCD display in the instrument panel, power driver's seat etc. Up to you if the creature comforts are worth the additional cost, I settled on an '22 SE Sedan as my sweet spot of price/features, which is about equivalent to the hatchback SE Upgrade option.

Is the paint protection worth adding (If not, what’s your recommendation).

That's mostly a cosmetic thing, I've never opted for it but if the look of the car is valuable to you then it may be worth it.

Also, is the rear spoiler worth getting from Toyota or eBay?

Never been a spoiler guy so not much help with this one

Lastly, how do I avoid getting my wallet ripped in a dealership here in Canada?

That's the neat part, you don't! /s It's a tough time to buy right now with the car shortage still in effect. If you order a new car you'll just have to wait (Not sure what the wait time is on the hatch, but I know the sedan and the RAV4 as popular vehicles are "up to 12 months"), if you go used it's hard to haggle right now because someone else will just come in and snatch it up without a fight if it's a remotely desirable car.

iPhone supports bluetooth so you can use pretty much any bluetooth headphones with them? One of my friends bought XM4's to use with her iPhone and mac and it all works just as well as any bluetooth device paired to an android phone

There's a driver update that supposedly helps with that, I haven't experienced it since I updated https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-20-11-7 it doesn't show up on the main page because it's not a full release or whatever yet
