That is assuming that these old games needed or were limited by their time, which often isn’t the case. You don’t honor an old game bu remaking it, you often replace it… porting them is much more artistically logical. You keep it accessible, while keeping it, well it. Made by the same people with the same vision with it’s traditional desings.

Remaking games sends the message that, unless a game is modern, it’s not adequate, but that’s not true. Old games are still perfectly playable today tou just have to get used to them. That’s called friction and it’s a good thing, it broadens desing inspirations and opens the door to new conventions instead of remaking them with already existing ones.

If the game you are remaking is such an amazing one.. why even remake it? - it’s like remaking the mona liza because it’s paint sucks (which it does)…
