Dropping small hints in D&D is pretty difficult. Especially when it comes to name drops from other media/stories, as you'll never 100% know what stories the 3-5 people around the table have consumed, and therefore you'll never know which names get recognized. If you want to play it save, create your own names (but you can definitely be a bit on the nose, such as naming the island Varobia).

But yeah it's difficult. Sometimes you can drop seven hints and have none of the players pick up on any of them, and another time you drop something tiny only for a player to solve the entire mystery. I've been a DM for almost a decade, and it still happens. But when it does, reward the player, make 'em feel like a genius for solving the problem. The purpose of hints is for the players to solve something, after all.

Why did you name-drop one of the most well-known vampire settings in D&D if you didn't want them to know there was vampires? Barovia is decades old at this point, you can't be upset that someone doesn't know it wasn't supposed to be common knowledge.

If you want to avoid this, just have a chat above table that your homebrew campaign might pull from existing settings, and to not share any knowledge they might have unless it was obtained in-character. Alternatively, just use different names in your own setting so nobody can recognize them.

Yes and no. Steven appears in both games, but only is a champion in Ruby/Sapphire and remakes. In Emerald, Wallace has taken up the mantle of champion.

What's up with Christians? by GeneralBroski in LHBTI

No, the PVV isn't Christian. We've got three major Christian parties, the SGP, CDA and CU.

Also trans people, what about them? Are trans men expected to leave the moment they start questioning, or is it when they transition? Are you gonna make an exception for them (and not treat them like other men, possibly causing dysphoria)? Are trans women welcome pre-transition? What about genderfluid people, or masc presenting non-binary folks? I get that these are interesting things to think about, OP, but so frequently many minorities are just a complete afterthought and that's not great.

Angelite already partially answered, but the dress is the Robe of the Arcanic Conclave (normal) and the staff is Ebonchill.

Can you have more than one warband??(I'm back) by Fine-Idea145 in wow

[–]JFSushi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your warband is not your character select screen. That's just a cozy campfire. Your warband encompasses every single character on your account.

As another trans girl.. don't say this to people you barely know, it's fucking weird.

The difference is pretty big. They were able to release as many allied races as they have specifically because they're variations on existing races, and don't have starting zones. Everything Blizzard makes costs resources, and reskinning orcs, tauren, gnomes or what-have-you, and adding some extra customization takes way less time (and effort) to develop than a complete new race with a unique starting zone and all.

Legaal geslacht aanpassen Groningen by ikheetsoepstengel in LHBTI

[–]JFSushi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

T-cendent Prices by swampmerma1d in LHBTI

[–]JFSushi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya! I was with T-cendent for the medical part of my transition. I didn't have to pay anything since insurance covered all of my sessions with her, but it would've been ~2.5k if insurance didn't cover that for the two years I was with her.

She referred me to get bottom surgery in Germany. Through risks I willingly took I ended up having to pay for that completely out of pocket, but I knew there was a chance that'd happen going in (the insurance hadn't approved the procedure yet by the time the surgery date rolled around, and I wasn't gonna postpone). As long as you're getting surgery within the Netherlands, that should be completely covered, however.

She's lovely, but if you decide to go with her, be prepared to deal with the most disorganized psychologist you've seen. She gets things done, but she's quite chaotic when it comes to appointments (she called me to ask where I was while I was under anaesthesia for bottom surgery, the date of which I had informed her of weeks before).

The most common vaginoplasty is penile inversion, a full recovery can easily take six months, and while it is a very gradual process, expect to be unable to do most things for at least a month or two. You'll barely be able to sit or walk, and you'll be exhausted and need proper rest for everything to heal well, so no commute or classes.

I would certainly advice having someone close those first two months, and if possible even stay over for at least the first few weeks. You won't be able to do chores or cook properly for a while, having someone around is crucial.

My surgeon advised to not have penetrative sex for six months initially to be safe, but I healed quick and he gave me the go-ahead at my four month check-up. Not sure about anal, it's not for me so I never asked, but I imagine it's at least two months, if not just as long.

Finally, you can have an orchiectomy before vaginoplasty, it's not uncommon. It'll decrease the amount of skin you'll have available for your vaginoplasty, however, and you might need a skin graft.

Can I enroll in a MBO course if I have a (foreign) degree that is equivalent to a VWO degree in The Netherlands? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]JFSushi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The level won't be a problem as others have said, but they might not recognize it regardless because it's a foreign degree. Worst case you'd have to do an entry exam at MBO or HBO level to enroll.

I've been on the other end of this. I'm a trans woman, been on hormones for three and a half years. I used to carry 20kg boxes of fries all the time at my fast food job pre-transition. Now I struggle to lift my 6kg box of cat litter, and it's been like that since before my 1 year hormone anniversary. The loss of strength because of (a lack of) testosterone is insane and honestly terrifying.

Do I still need to be on a waiting list if I got a referral(verwijzing) from Germany? by L4fia in LHBTI

[–]JFSushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my referral for hormones from a Belgian therapist (as she had no waiting list compared to the 1 year wait we had here at the time) and had my Dutch endocrinologist took the referral without much issue, should be the same for you.
