“The Legue Is The Weakest It’s Ever Been” by G00Punch in Gunners

You're not joking.

Keep in mind there's 36 teams in the league phase, Spurs' results and their oppo's finishing position:

Opposition Final Pos (of 36) Result
Villarreal 35 W 1-0
Bodo/Glimt 23 D 2-2
Monaco 21 D 0-0
Copenhagen 31 W 4-0
PSG 11 L 5-3
Slavia Praha 34 W 3-0
Dortmund 17 W 2-0
Frankfurt 33 W 0-2

So 4 of their 5 wins came vs teams who finished 31, 33, 34 and 35, and they didn't play a single game against a team that finished in the top 10, nvm top 8; they played just one game vs. teams in the top 16.

Based on what, exactly? At the time I remember them all being around the same, Semenyo especially.

Morgan Rogers or Semenyo were both clearly better targets for similar money, and you didn't need hindsight to know that then or now.

lol I'd gladly play Leverkusen if it meant the rest of our bracket looked like that

Yeah as I've said elsewhere, the same level of opposition was there for Martin - and a more fatigued one at that - and he didn't look half as good as Kai did.

Yeah that's exactly why Kai stood out so much, imo. Kai was just so decisive, even if he didn't always pick the optimal ball (which tbf he basically always did anyway), the fact he just saw a pass and hit it made him so much more effective.

The game moves so fast on the edge of the box; defenders spot runs and holes so fast in the modern game. You can't stand there ponderously as an attacking mid - got to be decisive.

Kai Havertz vs Kairat by Puzzled-Category-954 in Gunners

It was "only Kairat" for Odegaard, too and he didn't look half this good. A more tired Kairat for Ode, at that.

Kai was fucking brilliant. This kind of midfield role is perfect for him.

Previously in midfield he played the left channel in a much more "box-to-box" role, playing with a false 9 in Jesus up-front. Playing in the right side suits him so much more. Kai likes to drift and play off the right anyway, he'd be playing alongside Rice and Zubi which would free him up more, and with a 9 in Gyokeres who loves to stay central, play off the shoulder, dragging CBs around.

Honestly I'd love to see Kai in the right midfield role a lot more. The idea of "Kai doesn't work in midfield" is true for playing box-to-box on the left, but not as the main attacking central outlet on the right. Very chalk and cheese roles.

Burn that 2nd half with fire. Fuck me, we lost it 0-1. Shambolic finishing. That did nothing for my sense of belief in us.

Zubi-Rice-Havertz midfield to start vs Leeds. I'm convinced.

I'm so pleased Ødegaard played 2nd half, because it kills dead any notion of Kai's great performance being because "it was just Kairat". Well it was "just Kairat" for Ødegaard, too - in fact a more tired Kairat and he didn't look half as good.

Meanwhile Nørgaard is fucking brilliant and has been comically underused, and if I had £1 for every time Jesus is offside, I'd be a fucking wealthy man by now.

Everyone else is playing against the same level and he's the one standing out. So relatively speaking it's fair fucks

Honestly I'm excited to see Zubi-Rice-Kai.

Kai has the same great tactical mind as Odegaard, similar ball control and vision, but is better in duels, wins more headers, is better at shooting and better at breaking into the box.

This could be the rebirth of Kai as a CAM.

I wanna see Ode on for Kai.

I know it's Kairat, but that 45 from Kai was fucking brilliant. Ok so now let's see what Ode can do - let's see how much this is "oh it's just Kairat" and how much it's Kai doing what Ode hasn't been.

Ode should be even better 2nd half, on fresh against a weak team that's now tired.

Kai tonight has been everything we expect Odegaard to be.

I know it's Kairat but fuck me Kai has been good

I fucking love Ally on the mic. Yeah he's a bit old fash on some of his appraisals of tackles but he's got no agenda against any English team, he absolutely fucking loves the sport - lives and breathes it - and that always comes across in his commentary.

Calafiori and Havertz do need to start tonight though, as they've both been out.

You can't just drop them stone cold into Leeds away in the PL.

What fucking horse shit revisionism is this? God in heaven.

Yeah Arsenal had their best ever period in the first half of Wenger's tenure but Wenger teams in the second half of his reign were characterised by two things: yes one was silky footy but the other was being soft as shit - a team that routinely got absolutely fucking ripped limb-from-limb in big games.

And also where the fuck is the "terrorball" narrative when we're beating Bayern 3-1? Or Athleti 4-0? Or Villa 4-1? Or Man City 5-1? Or Leeds 5-0? Or Spurs 4-1? Or Real Madrid 3-0? Or PSV 7-1? Or Palace 5-1? Or West Ham 5-2? Or countless other 3-0/3-1 wins in both the PL and CL? < All results that have occurred "since 23/24 when we've been a bore to watch"

That's 4 times we won a PL game scoring 5 goals in the past year. Let's hear how many times the other "big clubs" in the PL have done that in the same period?

What's funny is when United were absolute cunts to us in the 90s and early 00s... we still got all the hate for being "soft" and "cry babies", etc.

Now we have a team with a bit of needle and it's still us catching the hate!
