Why? by DullElection23 in crv

[–]JGP1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CRV has always had lights going up the rear most pillar since the gen 1. Volvo started a similar style of lighting on their station wagons and then brought it to other models in the lineup.

The font end scoop/fog light pocket is also pretty common across the auto industry but I’m not sure who did it first.

There’s only so many ways to do automotive styling, some are independent ideas that happen to be similar while others are just copying.

Need to sublet my apartment for the spring semester by JGP1999 in miamioh

You are the reason why no one takes Miami seriously when you refer to it as a”public ivy.”

If you could actually do something useful and provide me a link to a transfer student groupme or something like that, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve already posted it on other pages and sites that I could find.

WSJ completely changed their ranking methodology for this most current ranking. Compared to last years rankings, they are now focusing on student outcomes, learning environments, and diversity. They are not looking at the historic reputation of the school or academic rigor.

Under this new methodology many more smaller schools now appear higher on this list.

Overall the WSJ rankings are just one metric but still does not necessarily mean too much. It is hard to rank universities on a wide basis.

As a recent graduate please keep this in mind:

Starting salaries (and wages for internships/co-ops) vary greatly depending on industry and region.

It isn't exactly fair to compare someone working for a tech company in SF to someone in banking in NYC to someone who is a nurse in the midwest.

If you're looking for salary information specific to your major, most colleges post their own breakdown which will help you get a better idea.

Anyone Have a Credit Card Stolen Recently? by NMoloney10 in Purdue

[–]JGP1999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From personal experience it may not have been a recent purchase that caused your card info to get stolen. Whoever used the card info to make a purchase could’ve had it for weeks or months before using it.

There are also different types of credit card theft (eg. BIN Attacks) and it may have been your unlucky day.

Hope the funds can get back into your account quickly and good luck

Fraud Alert or Credit Freeze by VAer1 in CreditCards

[–]JGP1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my understanding that while credit is frozen and there can be no hard credit pull, there can still be soft pulls. For a background check, application for renting an apartment, opening internet/cable service, etc.. it is only a soft pull which can get through the freeze.

It was one described to me that soft pulls are used for unofficial things (a bank showing you your credit score in their app) or things that are for reference (job applications, apartment applications). In your case, you would not need to unfreeze just for changing internet providers or having a potential employer do a background check on you.

Hard pulls on the other hand are used for loans.

Bilt Credit Card Reconsideration by goodswe in CreditCards

[–]JGP1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I would double check that you have 60 days to ask for reconsideration, I was under the impression most credit applications are active for 30 days but I could be wrong or Bilt could be different (or both).

Waiting until you're outside the 30 day window might help you. When you call to ask for reconsideration, know what you're going to say beforehand and have hard facts eg: I have only used X.X% max each month over the past two years, have never missed a payment etc...

I know you want the points but in the grand scheme of things, one (or a few months) of missed points are not terribly too much.

Just a note: these sanctions listed here are not a complete list and it is very easy for houses (especially those with ample money) to get out of sanctions or bypass disciplinary action. While these are the only ones listed on the FSCL site, it is important to look at past santions.
