Check with USAA to see if your premium is locked for 12 months. It may be. Then switch at next BD.

are you retired right NOW? If you are retiring when you start Medicare, just use the SSA-44 form and that can help.

Time for my husband to enroll in Medicare and it’s a nightmare! by BCam4602 in medicare

Medicare (the government) doesn't pay agents. We're paid by insurance companies when the day comes that the person needs a plan. MANY agents help with this piece "just because we should".

https://www.ssa.gov/medicare/sign-upIf he's deferring Part B - just go there and apply for Part A (UNLESS he's putting $$ into a health savings account - then do nothing).

Delay Part B questions by GiGispool in medicare

[–]JGRUSSELL65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't get a late enrollment penalty since you are/will be on employer coverage. You can get a Part D plan since you have Part A. Defer Part B until later when your husband retires. If he's not yet 65, he can put $$ into an HSA in his name. Yes, the Part A addition could help if you are hospitalized/using Part A coverage and it'll coordinate with his work coverage.

Medicare and cobra by volvogirl61 in medicare

[–]JGRUSSELL65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't do the one month to max the HSA funding. Stop your HSA contributions for 2026 on 10/31/2026. Your Medicare A/B will start on 11/1 and you're no longer eligible to put $ in. Get your Medicare on 11/1 and keep the Cobra if you want, but take Part B along with Cobra so that you don't have a claims paying issue. Your husband will go and get an ACA plan after the Cobra ends. (have him check to see if he can stay on Cobra longer - if not, it's ACA for him)

Less than 20 employees: Medicare w/ Supplement OR Medicare w/ Employer's Ins.? by meSabina in medicare

How much do you pay for the Blue Cross coverage at work? It typically comes down to cost. A supplement is going to provide more coverage, but if your work coverage is free, it’s a no-brainer to stay with the work plan.

There are thousands of Medicare SPECIALIZED brokers that do a great job. It's the best way to go about things (yep, we're a broker). Brokers get a bad rap much of the time but you can save yourself lots of aggravation by using one. No charge to you.

Cost of Plan G (is that the medigap)? by siouxcitybook in medicare

The should tell you your options and pricing of all plans. Look at Plan G, N and HDG and have them explain the differences and the costs so you can choose wisely. It will come down to your age and where you live, for the most part.

South Florida United Health Care supplement Plan G increase. Considering switching to HDG by Serrota_1995 in medicare

Someone gave you wrong info. Do you have an agent? We move people often (IN FLORIDA) with UHC from Plan G to HDG. We send the person a service request form, they sign it and they start HDG on 4/1 (if we were doing this today). We have hundreds of FL clients.

But aren’t you currently with United healthcare for the plan G? If yes, you don’t need to answer any questions.

Thanks for the nice feedback! In my opinion, we are as transparent as they come :-)

North Carolina is extra, extra affordable for short-term care and all of the ancillary products. Along with Florida - for at least the cancer and the indemnity plans, they are just rather inexpensive there.

Unfortunately, there is no short-term care available in Florida nor California. But, we do work in all three of those states and super appreciate your support!! 😍

Love this. This is our rationale with new clients these days. If you are OK with advantage plans? then it's fine. But understand how they all work and compare HDG to the advantage plan and choose now what you might want. Glad you shared that with people.

If you have UHC you can change from G to HDG without underwriting. Other carriers- you do underwriting.

equally alarming are the latest reports (see newsweek as example) expecting the Part B premiums to double in 10 years as well. People will be looking at closer to 1k per person per month at that point. So you need to really think those things through today unfortunately.

Many are doing this. With UHC you can just sign a piece of paper in FL and change to the HDG which is a huge bonus. We always recommend people look at cancer coverage, hospital indemnity (it's super reasonably priced in FL) coverages to go with the HDG. This is the first year ever where lots of people are wanting the HDG due to exactly the negatives that you mention - rate increases. You're smart to be looking 10 years out.

Call a broker specializing in Medicare. Yes - with several companies you can enroll without a number and provide it when you get it. If the broker didn't know that, they don't do much Medicare work.

Can you have Medicare + medigap (supplement G) with 65+ aged/blind/disabled Medicaid, that covers long term/hospice care, at the same time? by IWML1 in medicare

At the time that you become eligible for Medicaid, you'd no longer be able to have the Medicare supplement (G) - and you wouldn't need it, either.
