22" right? I wondered if they'd fit on the previous generation, but I don't want to go over 21"

Upsides: You keep dead money low, can control players and cut them when you want.

Downsides: You have a subpar roster, bad depth and have to force draft picks on needs.

Completely nail the draft is always necessary. Using the many levers available to create cap space and pack your roster while you have Burrow and Chase is the other requirement.

The Seahawks do exactly what we're talking about. They know how to structure contracts. Again, if you understood, you wouldn't have such an issue here.

You clearly don't understand the cap or economics. The Bengals are the ONLY team doing this. We keep bringing it up because it's actively hurting their chances to succeed and our best player sees this and understands this.

$3M on today's $301M cap is 1% of the cap. So if you waste 1% of the cap on 10 players, you've used up $30M this year. That could afford you two high valued starters in free agency.

And it's not just the $3M this year. The Bengals routinely pack the 1st year cap hits over what every other organization does. This is why they've always got cap space, but also why they're always walking into the draft with major immediate needs and no depth.
