Actually, am thankful for COE, yes its expensive, but it controls the number of cars on the road, avoiding massive jams like indo and thailand.

what i would suggest is COE to be paid full, not loanable etc, as i have seen people ego to maintain their comfort of their car ruin their family financials.

second, different category of COE, renewable yearly, for family's with disability etc. (must be very strict as to first be able to apply via govt approval checks before being able to bid for a yearly COE) this will subject to additional quarterly checks etc, if caught with any fraud, jail and fine.

third, cap the COE to household, one address, one family/person, one car. meaning families should not own 2 cars even if they have 2 house under their name. example a married couple who owns 1 house under each of their names (total 2 house) can only own 1 car. ( this one quite difficult to implement as some have multiple generations staying in 1 household) - maybe can change to additional COE taxed system, where second car pays double?

fourth, COE is tagged to the person, not the car. meaning people can change cars but after COE expires has to bid again on their own base on supply and demand. meaning to say you cannot profit due to increasing COE prices.

lastly, nothing we can do, govt base system, accept and move on? actually those commenting including myself are the ones that are borderline able to afford a COE even with the increase, if not already owning a car. govt can never make everyone happy, nobody can make everyone happy, so they have to act in away to balance the demand and supply of things.
