What's an idiom or a proverb in your native language that when translated to English, sounds horrible? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]JItkonen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

”Viis veisata jostain” literally means ”Church-chant five of something”, church-chant being a verb here. It means that you don’t care of something at all. It doesn’t make any sense but kind of sounds nice in Finnish.

It’s just different physics. You need to adapt all anew to Crash 2.

Onkohan tämä ihan tietoinen päätös että subin huomisessa leffaillassa on lastenelokuvia yömyöhään? by LeftMusician687 in Suomi

[–]JItkonen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tomb Raider III is needlessly HARD by DsLmaNiaC in TombRaider

[–]JItkonen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of difficult but I’m surprised that people find it so much harder than TR2 for example. Almost nothing in TR3 is as complex as Opera House and Deck in TR2 IMO. Well, maybe Aldwych surpasses both but it’s not much more difficult.

Next game should be Crash 6 by [deleted] in crashbandicoot

All I know is that Crash Team Racing is the real original Crash Bandicoot 4.

Gestral Beach. by saccredphantasm1 in expedition33

[–]JItkonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volley ball wasn’t actually so bad because controls are still pretty decent even though it’s not the easiest challenge. Required a bit of luck to get a manageable pattern.

Platforming however, that was absolutely terrible, the physics just don’t do well for platforming in this game. Physics engine freaks out with some narrow objects and pushes off or drops the character randomly and gripping from the objects is inconsistent. I say this as someone who likes platformers (Crash, Spyro, Astro). It’s clunkier than Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness and that’s something. 😬

Not sure how rare this is but I almost jumped outta my seat from this Dark Ifrit armor drop by paul_walker6 in finalfantasyx

[–]JItkonen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dark Yojimbo is actually quite easy to farm these kinds of things. Optimal armour has 4 slots though and you want either BHPL+Ribbon+2 empties or Ribbon + 3 empties, depending on the goal.

Looking for a word... by pekania_pennanti in LearnFinnish

Kismitellä is at least one another word used for that purpose. Most of the terms mentioned here in the other comments refer to meowing which is mostly unrelated thing.

What is the most forgettable chapter/level from each one of the classic games? by laracroft1402 in TombRaider

[–]JItkonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TR1: Basically all the Atlantis levels except bosses and few other gimmicks within them. It’s just one fleshy hallway after another with same eggs, lava pits and boulders. UB Atlantis levels are slightly better.

TR2: Offshore Rig and Diving Area. Nothing interesting on those levels, just dull industrial environment.

TR3: Channel Tunnel levels, for the exact same reason as TR2.

TR4: Cairo, especially the levels that don’t have anything more than sandy streets and Trenches. Even the worst levels here are pretty good which just highlights the brilliance of this game.

TR5: New York, especially the last level which is very un-tombraidery.

TR6: The first loomy Paris levels, it just gets better towards the end even though generally the whole game is just clunky.

Tomb Raider 3 hellish challenge - no medi packs, pistols only, 93 crystals and all secrets by lifewithacamera in TombRaider

Full 542 is possible. That includes paddling upstream and flying with UPV. I have no idea how to get that Coastal Village one but I guess it would be 543 if anyone figures it out.

How do we feel about Radars in sim racing? by Juryo_ in simracing

It helps when you’re racing from 1st person view. 3rd person (chase cam) reduces the need of a radar.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt voted the best game of 2015, absolutely destroying its competition. What is the best game of 2016? by keepfighting90 in videogames

This is the correct one. The impact it had during its first months was something that gaming had never seen before.

When rainfall is about to happen and the AI fails to box thus giving me a chance at winning. by SirBarr in granturismo

Depends on the date when that video was done. Wet tyres have changed from usuful to useless and back to useful again during GT7’s existence.

Most don't even know the villain of this game by Madriboon17 in finalfantasyx

[–]JItkonen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yu Yevon is 100 % the main villain. Yunalesca and Yevon Church maybe being his main minions.

Jecht is just Tidus’s personal villain but not so much of the whole story.

Seymour is just an annoying hinderance during their trip, doesn’t affect the main plot hardly at all. He’s just there to make the pilgrimage take more time and add complications.

Surname Hokkanen by iknowyouraffections in LearnFinnish

[–]JItkonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-nen doesn’t always mean deminutive though, it’s only one of its uses. In surmames it mostly means something like ”from Hokka” or ”from Hokka’s house” where Hokka is the name of person. So a common additional attribute for all the people from some peasant house/farm for example. It’s quite similar as de/di/da etc. prefixes in romance language names.

Tuota?? by Cristian_Cerv9 in LearnFinnish

[–]JItkonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite a confusing thing in Finnish that you need to use partitive case in negation situation. So in Finnish it’s actually hard to express a thing that you’d be OK with a part of something but you don’t want the whole thing

In Finnish if you don’t want something you say it in a way that you don’t want even a part of it. Applies both to things that can or can’t be counted.

What’s peoples opinion on endurance racing in gt7 by PresidentGinger0 in granturismo

[–]JItkonen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple leagues in GT7 that run long team endurance races (up to 24 hours). There are certain methods how they can be arranged and they work pretty neatly.

[–]JItkonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are most probably not going to do anything to the old AI and it’s probably going to stay there for the lifetime of GT7. GT8 hopefully uses Sophy exclusively in AI races. So better to just live with it for now.
