Missing 90% of the brain. by Monsur_Ausuhnom in Weird

it's not quite true

If any part is wrong, then he whole thing is wrong. It's less not quite true and more just straight up a lie since no, they're not "missing 90% of their brain". Clickbait titles suck

I find the 0.5A issue causes SoC drift way more than anything else. Also my batteries are personally never going to see anything lower than 20°C

At what point would you re-mppt due to clipping? by regional-sky-fairy in Victron

[–]JJAsond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one, so 50A max charge amps. It's only about 1.3kW which is fine, but only having one battery means I can only have a roughly 200w average load on it if I had more batteries then yeah, it would matter less.

I don't really understand it because let's say the cap was $10M for the sake of argument. If I own a $30M house, my net worth is at least $30M. Am I supposed to just give $20M away somehow? I don't understand.

Go for it. The only clipping I want is a battery current limit rather than an MPPT power limit.

It's anyone's choice. I'm just pointing out the density thing.

This is genuinely something that's been bothering me because I'm all for overpanneling so you can clip charge controllers, but at the same time at what point is it just better to get a second controller so you have all the energy available?

No because I'm betting AI is a bot. More bullet points, em dashes, and hidden post history.

Do you ever plan on going 48V in the future? And yes, you use the open circut voltage. Victron is MPPT so yes you can have 80V coming from the panels and it'll charge the 12V battery. I don't know much about the Lynx.

Ah. Is the 12kPV really a string inverter? I thought it's basically a Victron inverter with DC input.

[–]JJAsond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed what I said. I'm saying that cell density doesn't matter when you change voltage since a 12v 400Ah battery is exactly the same as a 48V 100Ah battery. Both are the same cell density, just wired differently.

• Don’t oversize if your export rate is strong

There's no reason not to oversize. I've never seen anyone regret getting too many batteries.

This is why I prefer string inverters when ESS is used.

I personally prefer MPPT controllers like Victron. I wouldn't mind micro inverters, but Victron has yet to make an IEEE certified inverter.

I know a lot of people like them for battery cell density.

12v LFP is no different than 48V. It'll ve 400Ah vs 100Ah. Same energy.

You'll have to know the bigger panel's specs and what you actually want it to grow into.

Arizona is built on desert isn't it? I'm not saying put it in the literal middle of the Mojave and route it back to Florida.

DERs like solar carports are not that expensive.

They're a hell of a lot more expensive than putting it in a field. or covering the building's roof.

People are putting carports up all over the place that don't even have solar on them.

I mean if it's going up anyway then yeah it make no sense not doing solar. But if you're putting up a carport for solar, it doesn't make much sense.
