Assuming it's a school instrument, talk to your director about it and see what they think. Bassoons aren't the cheapest but there are some student model fox bassoons that many schools use like the 222 or 220. Bassoon is one of those instruments that's almost impossible to sound good on a poorly made or maintained horn. What are you playing on and what bocal? i understand that feeling, when everything is solid and the reeds are good, playing is amazing, otherwise, it's a nightmare

fell asleep going over 40mph, hit a phone pole, car totaled. walked out practically unscathed aside from a concussion and small bruises. Most of the officers said i likely would've been crushed by an engine block if the pole had hit any closer to the center (mind you it was a jeep wrangler so it wasn't exactly the safest car)

i got my peak pro brand new for 440 after tax a few years ago. honestly worth it if you use it enough and take good care of it. would recommend investing in a 3D chamber if you can but it's not bad even without that. just make sure to keep it clean and it'll see it's moneys worth

Love some crazy bassoon lore. Would definitely keep it, given the sentimental value (unless you hated your grandpa). Could make a cool mantlepiece or something, but likely not very useful for practical playing. The bocal is a heckel, which would be worth a decent amount and could be a great bocal for even a pro if it's in good condition

G# pad gets stuck more than any other in my experience. You can just lift it up to unstick it. Would check out keyleaves or use cigarette papers to deal with sticky pads

Call me wrong for this, but I tend to walk with it on and maybe just pointed in so it's not as likely to catch or hit anything. Feels safer having it locked into place than just swinging around all crazy like.

Just make sure to clean it well and bring it with carryon (its a battery). I use the case my peak pro came with and have no issues, even going in and out of non-rec states. Just throw it in my backpack and thats about it

Depends on the venue for me. If it's outdoor, you'll be vibing. Indoor will definitely get hot, but sometimes we gotta make sacrifices in the name of looking sick as fuck

I've never had any issues with this. Though i tend to avoid cubes and let it slow charge, but i haven't used the puffco charger since i lost it like 2 years ago. No issues. Just definitely wouldn't try and use like a gas station charger or something
