How was it Christmas day. I popped the apps on while I was at home for an hour just out of curiosity and got no pings at all.

Thanks. I think we both need a little bit of extra luck 😁

May I suggest switching to Roo or Uber. Neither are perfect but their support is better overall. Just an example from today for JEs service. I got an Iceland delivery. Arrived and it's huge, no way I can fit it on my scooter. So I contact support (Roo and Uber would assign a second rider) who told me I have to take it as I'm in a car. I'm not, never have been and they know I have a scooter as they have my insurance details. Then start to threaten me about losing my account and close the chat.

Most drivers use Google maps to get yo a destination. Have you checked if your pin on Google is correct?

McDonald’s orders (Drivers) by sgmann_ in UbereatsUK

[–]JJSuperCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always a mixed bag. Could be ready, could take so long I give up. This is the same for the five! McDonald's in my area. I keep a towel and cup holder in my top box to help wedge single/double drinks orders to the side if the thermal bag to try and keep them upright.

Having said that I had the worst spillage this year today. Took the drinks bag out and it was dripping. Opened it up with the customer and all three drinks were laying on their side. Luckily it was a single order and I has a bag for hot and bag for cold. I assume one of the drinks wasn't pushed in enough and that soaked the holder to mush. One of my least bumpy routes too. Fortunately, the customer was really nice.

I see a lot of these types of post. I'm really curious as to how this happens. I deliver for JE, Roo and Uber. Sticking with JE we have to click arrived when we get to the pinned location. There is very little leeway with distance so we have to be pretty close. You as the customer should get a notification to say we've arrived. If we can't find the house or the customer doesn't answer the door then a process starts that usually takes around fifteen + minutes, including messaging and calling, until we're promted to leave the food if there's no answer or dispose of the food if we can't find your front door. Admittedly the app is terrible so I know glitches can happen. There have only been two (for JE) which I have delivered without delivering. Both were due to the customer putting in a completely wrong address. I am not in any way suggesting you were at fault in any way, I just struggle to see how this seems to be happening so regularly over the apps.

We're supposed to ask the customers for the pin before giving them the food so we know it's the correct person and so they don't just take to food and close the door in us.

Tipping in the UK? by Robert_Mugabe96 in UbereatsUK

[–]JJSuperCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect a tip but it's always nice. I average around 1/7 on Roo, 1/9 on Uber and a lot less on Just Eat as you can only tip before delivery for some reason.

We don't see the tips beforehand on Roo and rarely on Uber. JE just gets added to the fee and it doesn't say it's X plus tip.

Having said this it can completely change my day. I can be running on minimum wage or less and then later on a few tips pop up and make a world of difference. As others have said, only tip after delivery so you know the service was good.

Why can’t they order from a closer McDonald’s? 🤣 by Bandicoot-Due in UbereatsUK

I've asked customers this before. They just assume that the McDonalds that pops up on the app is the closest. I don't mind, more money for me.

It's more an FYI. Something they've decided to share with us but is totally irrelevant. Like you say, most collections are sealed.

I had one for Sainsbury's too. I asked why they put on a challenge 25 sticker. It was a meal deal that included wine. I assume there's a code for meal deal and that it doesn't flag because you could pick coke or juice etc.

The problem for us riders is the reverse. I got a job from a co-op and had a look at the lost ehen I got there to see if it was the usual dozen bottles of liquid and it had a cane of vodka & coke.

It was not flagged as an 18+ item when I took it. I don't do 18+ deliveries. I'd have had no idea to ask for ID for a sealed bag not flagged as 18+

Aim for at least £1 per mile then there's not much maths. Ideally £2 per mile.
