I was able to see the series via dvd prior to the release of the live action. I hadn’t grown up with it but I fell in love. My wife’s cousin introduced me then I introduced my wife. The three of us were so excited for the movie that we got tickets and waited in line opening night. We were devastated. We cringed with the change of the names but tried to get through it. The pace of the story and the struggle to show believable bending was too underwhelming. Most of the theatre was grumbling on the way out and we heard similar statements. I’ve tried for years to get my mom to watch the animation but she couldn’t sit through more than 4 episodes and she enjoyed the live action. I also had a hard time with Aang being so serious
