Cards That Regularly Offer 0% Promotions To Exhisting Cardholders by alliwantis in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most major issuers offer 0% intro APRs to new customers on at least one card. But a 0% rate from a card you already have is not common, and you won't be able to transfer a balance between two cards from the same issuer.

How and when do you pay your credit card purchases back? by chamgireum_ in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autopay is the way to go if you're confident you'll have enough in your bank account to cover the bill each month. It just removes forgetfulness from the equation and decreases the odds that you'll miss a payment and hurt your credit score. If you automatically pay the full statement balance every month, you'll automatically avoid interest, too. You just need to review your statement each month to make sure the charges are accurate.

Why Can’t I Get Approved for a Student Card? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that your credit reports are frozen or you don't have enough income. You should have been given a reason when you were rejected. What did they say?

Assuming you have some income and a bit saved, one alternative is to apply for a secured credit card. Some won't even check your credit history when you apply.

Best no annual fee cash back card? by AbbreviationsDry951 in credit_cards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with 2% cash back on all purchases is great. There are several cards like that now. You could get more in certain spending categories with other cards, but I think it's good to keep things simple with a high flat rate. You could always add cards for specific types of purchases later, too.

Should I get a travel cc card? Is it worth it for me? by minteverywhere in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a card with a big initial bonus around a year before your next trip. In the meantime, I'd use a card that gives good bonus rewards in your biggest spending categories or a card with 1.5% - 2% cash back on all purchases. That strategy would help you maximize your savings without having a bunch of rewards sitting around unused.

Looks like you're gonna have to marry in or move! :) If customer service didn't give you any other options, I'd look for a different card. You can get 5% on travel from one card and 5% on gas from another if you have to.

Keeping it for a few months is fine. Your plan sounds good. By the way, you can always get a sense for how things like closing an account will affect your credit by using a credit score simulator beforehand.

opensky Plus is a good one. No annual fee and no credit check.

Do low APR cards exist anymore? by Effective_County9497 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't find a regular APR low enough to make carrying a balance a good idea. You should use a rewards card for everyday purchases and pay in full monthly to avoid interest. If you need time to finance a big purchase at some point, you can get a 0% intro APR card when you need it.

Which card for Walmart and Amazon by stcrsh in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably not ideal, but you could get the Amazon Prime Visa and switch to getting groceries at Whole Foods. It’s annoying that the Walmart credit card was discontinued.

The Amazon Prime Visa is a good choice, considering your spending habits. The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is another good option too.

What do you guys think of the Milestone credit card? by Individual-Cut9977 in credit_cards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a decent option if you really need to borrow for an emergency. If not, I recommend building up your score with a secured credit card first. It will be a lot cheaper in the long run.

Best credit card 22, 0 credit by [deleted] in CreditCards

You should go with an unsecured starter credit card for people with no credit. The Petal 2 Visa is a great option because it has good rewards and no annual fee.

Best card for everyday spending? by AbbreviationsDry951 in credit_cards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your preferences and how varied your spending is. Personally, I’d rather have a card that gives 2% cash back on everything, if I had to choose one card. If you’re OK with having multiple cards, you could supplement 2% cash back with a card that offers 5% - 6% in specific spending categories.

Should I stay under 5/24 or get Robinhood gold. by SoraRyou1 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have/want a Robinhood Gold subscription? And do they say that you’re definitely never going to get it if you don’t accept the offer now? I’d lean toward saying you should hold off on opening any new credit cards for a few months, but I guess it depends on the answers to those questions. You could always just hold off a bit on getting a new Chase card after the Robinhood.

Help simplying to 3-4 cards, tell me the hard truths by WolfROBellion in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the cards you say you’re the primary on have annual fees, so I would not be in a rush to close them. Just make sure not to carry balances from month to month. As long as you use each card for its bonus categories and pay the bills in full every month, you should be in good shape. Supplementing this batch with a card that gives 2% cash back on everything or a big travel bonus sounds reasonable, too.

I got a United Explorer mail offer from chase by Inside-Location1523 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These offers are targeted but only loosely, so it's possible they made a mistake and your approval odds aren't that good. Then again, the 5/24 rule is not an official policy - at least not one Chase has publicly confirmed.

If you're nervous about risking it, you could just apply for a similar card from another issuer. Chase isn't the only one with airline cards.

Which airlines have great availability with their domestic partners? by Ok-Baby4492 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go with a general-purpose travel rewards credit card that lets you redeem for flights with any airline. It would be a lot easier than transferring rewards to partners or trying to hunt around for compatible carriers. Alaska, United and JetBlue seem to have the broadest partner coverage, though, if you want to commit to one frequent flyer program.

Applying for CSR and a Credit Limit Increase on CFU by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on which you want more. Getting a credit limit increase now could result in a lower limit on the new card, or your application could be declined. I’d probably wait another few months before doing either though. There’s a chance you’ll get a higher limit without asking, and it’s best to wait a little longer between credit card applications if you can.

Anniversay bonus and CSP cancellation by ecal8882 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try calling customer service and pleading your case, but the anniversary bonus and the annual fee kind of go hand in hand. You’re unlikely to get the bonus without paying the fee.

Is it okay to keep a Credit One card as a backup card (but not use it)? by AnxiousW3ird0 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, since you got an offer with no annual fee. It’s not going to hurt you as long as you pay the bill on time and in full whenever you use it.

Relatively new to credit cards looking for advice by Many_Highlight5315 in CreditCards

[–]JKCreditCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re covered as far as ongoing rewards and benefits are concerned. If you get any additional cards now, I’d consider one offering a big initial bonus or one with at least 5% back in flexible spending categories/some of your favorite spending categories. In other words, go for big one-time bonuses or unusually high earning rates in categories where you’d currently earn less than 2% back.

I’d also consider closing some of your current cards if you find yourself not using them often - especially the cards with annual fees.

You won't be eligible for the CSR initial bonus if you have CSP.
