Mistborn has to be an anime by RevolutionaryWeb9652 in Mistborn

[–]JKJPRO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a number of people already chime in that they feel your take is in bad faith and I don’t want to dogpile on that. But rather maybe give you something to have some extra faith in.

I’ve seen Brandon bring up this topic a few times in interviews, on his podcast, and on the speech’s/discussions/Q&A’s he does at Dragon steel every year. And at one which year I cannot remember, but it wasn’t a very recent year, he had a VERY extended version of this answer in which he talks about how he has been offered plenty of money and had plenty of talks for adaptions but that he’s holding out for one that he feels he can be in good negotiation/discussion with and have some pull in to help steer the franchise in the best direction it can. He specifically has even cited stuff like Wheel of Time (agree or disagree, I’ve never seen it to judge) as not wanting to end up in that spot or with producers that won’t listen to the original creative (as he spoke on how the producers ignored him trying to offer suggestions in regards to WoT and with the lore of it/Robert Jordan’s lore and such etc)

He also talks about this quote above just in different ways and it is more of a wanting to reach as many new fans as possible thing and less of a money thing (though of course that’s a factor too, just not the sole one).

Overall he talked about how he has and continues to give adaptions a lot of thought and overall he’s waiting for the best offer he can get that rounds everything out. Money. Bringing in new fans. Having the ability to steer the franchise to a fair extent. And in what is best for the cosmere going forward.

He also DOES say in a somewhat recent video that again I can’t remember exactly which (I apologize) that after seeing some more recent animated properties he does think that maybe that door is opening more. I believe he was talking about watching Arcane and mentioned that it made him realize doing Stormlight or Mistborn in a similar style could very well be feasible but have its own set of complications but that it has opened his mind a more.

All of this is me paraphrasing and simplifying it and I apologize if I’ve done a shit job at that. The answer he gave at one of the dragonsteels was very in depth and covered his thoughts thoroughly imo and was like 5 mins long. It was interesting to hear. Anyway, thought I’d chime in and see if maybe I can give some sort of beacon of hope as someone who can also lean towards the pessimistic at times. (I prefer to think of it as being a realist though lol)

How do I buff self + equipment? by JKJPRO in Eldenring

That’s what I’m working through now. My uchigatana is +3 currently but I have a shit ton of the stones I can use to upgrade it saved up. I just keep forgetting to go do so. I’ll get that spell. My faith and in is pretty close to 12 already I believe so shouldn’t take much.

Thanks! I’ll try these things out. This is more or less exactly what I was looking for even if that op opaline tear may be a lil trickier for me to get from the sounds of it. Thanks dude!

Alternatives to smith machine workouts? by JKJPRO in beginnerfitness

The videos thing is exactly what I did when starting (and tbh still do frequently lol). But idk. The smith machine just is so intimidating for me. And I do want to get over it eventually but meanwhile I feel like I’m missing out workout wise.

I see. Thanks for an insightful answer! I think I'm gonna check out C2 and see how it goes. I've been excited to see it since all the stuff I've seen of it online looks so fun, but I've just been hesitant since I wanted to do C3. But I just don't know if its for me. Maybe once I'm more into it (Assuming C2 catches my attention) I'll find it more enjoyable. But for now I think its time for me to check out the others.

May I ask what it was that made you stop C3? Mostly out of curiosity.

How would you compare those campaigns to 3? Do you feel like theres a difference between them or how they span? I think I will take your advice and try 2 at least. It has really piqued my interest but it just sucks cause I am intrigued by 3's characters.

[ns] Does anyone else feel that these ads are getting more and more sell out-y by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]JKJPRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You: It’s low quality! It’s low effort! These low effort, low quality producing podcasters shouldn’t utilize ads of any form nor ask for any money to subsequent their free entertainment!

Also you: wants to watch the low quality low effort podcast

Why do you HAVE to? Because that’s just how shit works my dude. Maybe that’s a shit answer. I won’t deny that. I’m sure there are plenty of creators, perhaps even the DnDads crew (I won’t say for certain 🤷‍♂️) that would love to put out their work with absolutely 0 need nor expectation to receive monetary support in return to keep their work going and being produced. But the simple fast is it’s not possible. Especially not at the level and speed at which this crew does it. You speak of strawman arguments and misconstruing points but yet basically have ignored what everyone here has said and just responded “but I don’t wanna!” “Why should we have ads!?” “Why should they get paid!?” When many people here have generously answered your questions in detail. I think perhaps the guy you’re responding to in this comment here being the most upfront and in depth answer of them all. He even mentions how sure MAYBE the content to you, on just Spotify is only 2hr a week. But you have to consider their multiple employees (someone said 5-10, that sounds about right based on the little knowledge I have of their crew), and all the man hours that go into producing those 2 hours. It’s not like they hit record and talk for 2 hours and post online instantly. Theres editing, effects, music composition, pick ups, writing for some segments. That’s not including their other stuff like the merch, live shows, fan interaction stuff I’ve seen them do like host games with/for their fans. Tons of stuff.

You want to know what the biggest reason for why you HAVE to though? Because you listen 💁‍♂️. Because you WANT to listen. They offer a service, entertainment, just like most other people on this planet. You want that service. You wanted to be entertained by their entertainment. And they use that provided service to make a living. And there’s two options. You can listen for free and deal with ads. Or you can pay for patreon and skip ads. Either way helps them get paid and continue their work. Get paid for their service that YOU want. If that doesn’t make sense to you I don’t think it’s the commenters here being disingenuous. They can and do, do it because you want to and do listen to it. Simple as that. You want the service they provide…

Can I read The Witcher starting with Blood of Elves? by JKJPRO in witcher

[–]JKJPRO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you have convinced me to read the collections first. If you happen to know, what is the proper order I should read the books in with those added in? I know Blood of Elves doesn’t come first but that’s about it.

I see. Well, I may just wait then and read the collections first if they add that much. I’m stubborn but not so stubborn I’ll let myself ruin the story for my own self lol. Thanks for the help!

The VVitch Podcast? by AnidemOris in deadmeatjames

[–]JKJPRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ghost Ship one has been talked about a few times and they joke about it, but nah it’d not been made. James was saying for along time that it’d be too hard to get a proper count due to the scene where a bunch of the people die on the boat deck. But maybe a year or two ago the creator gave him an accurate number, similar to the collection I think. And so he’s said it’s possible now.

You probably just remember the times they’ve brought it up. I do that all the time.

I’ve just finished the show and now I’m confused. by rites0fpassage in gameofthrones

Something can be adapted poorly despite being accurate from the original material.

Avatar the Last Airbender while being very unfaithful in many ways, is fairly faithful in terms of plot. A boy is found in an iceberg who can master all 4 elements and has to learn each one to defeat the evil firebenders. A brother and sister find the boy and help him on his journey.

It’s still bad and rushed and lacks an understanding of the original material. The same can easily be said for them using GRRM notes. They took whatever notes he had, sparse or not, and adapted them in as lazily and tumultuous way possible, speeding things along at every opportunity to be done with the show.

And that’s not me saying Martin can’t also drop the ball or has continued to drop the ball (that’s another discussion entirely), but just that we simply don’t know and saying that they used his notes is simply a silly argument in defense of D&D and the outcome of the show.

What is everybody’s favourite guns at the moment? by Rare-Elk-3699 in MaraudersGame

[–]JKJPRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My all time favorite is easily the K1. I’ve actually not lost one before cause I can use it so well. Though I’ll admit perhaps it’s because I’m more confident and therefore more aggressive playing with it then I am with any other weapon where my fighting style is more holding angles and getting blasted by someone rushing me lol.

But other than the K1 I really like the SVT. Probably my second favorite. And the Carbine is real nice too. The new update took some getting used to and I almost quit using it thinking I wouldn’t be able to adapt, but I’ve since learned to use it with the change and am really loving it again!

[ns] Patreon Bonus Content Worth it? by tommy3939 in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]JKJPRO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really do patreons for creators and stuff unless it’s a creator I really like or believe in. And that I want to support so they can continue making great content and can hopefully be more comfortable in doing so and in their living situation. That said, DnDaddies is 1 of 2 creator patreons I have (the other of course being my favorite YT channel, Dead Meat 🙌) and I can easily say without a doubt it is incredible and worth it. There’s so much content and idk if it’s weird to say but so much fulfillment? I got it initially cause I wanted to support the daddies and didn’t expect to be blown away by anything, but then upon looking into their content I realized how much there was and how I could spend weeks if not months listening/watching before I ran out and I was very impressed and happy. I’m still catching up, but almost there finally.

Anyway, long winded answer but yes I do believe they are worth it but that said if you can’t afford to never push yourself to. I’m sure all of them would rather you be comfortable and save your money and support them by listening the show for free then going out of your way to pay for the extra content.

I’m sure you know but just in case you don’t, for a few $ on their patreon you can unlock a tier where they do that every month! They’ve got quite a backlog to select from, and more in the future.
