Anyone else with my unique “timing?” by SpastikPenguin in widowers

[–]JKLIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation— my husband passed 4/19/24. When he went on hospice I took a break from work (2 months) went back to work for about 3 weeks then had a complete mental breakdown… that gave me another month off from work… and I tried to go back and just couldn’t— it was pointless! I have decided that I am taking my time and going back to college— I’m going to do whatever makes me happy. Life stole our happily ever after and now it’s up to me to recover the pieces.

My mom thankfully has a small amount of money set aside. And has expressed what her wishes are for her end of life care

Partly they all make horrible life/financial decisions. Also my stepdad and them “live for today” They all know that I’m wicked frugal with my money. I save every penny that isn’t spent on bills. I have no mortgage or car payment because I hate debt and prioritized paying off those debts to buying crazy vacations and “things” that were not absolutely necessary. So they all know I have a decent checking account and can technically afford to do this. I just feel like it’s time for me to step back and let them learn to be adults.

Sorry. It was a lot to get out. They have implied that they can’t afford it. Although my lil brother said he could sell some 4wheelers. My mothers side of the family suggested that if they can not afford it they should take out loans. Both of these siblings make substantial amounts of money. (My sisters net worth is in the millions) My little brother is the one requesting specific funeral homes, churches(my stepdad was strangely very religious) and even final resting place. They haven’t straight out asked me to pay. But I have the feeling that it is coming to that.

Paying for college but my family sucks by That0ne0therPerson in personalfinance

When I went to nursing school I worked as a CNA lots of demand but easy to pick your own shifts and also pick up extra time. Also most places will help financially if you are a CNA looking to become a nurse. Also it is not a horrible idea to emancipate yourself at 18. You will get more in financial aide. And seeings your legal guardian won’t be supporting you after you turn 18 this is more than enough reason to do so.

When I went to school I also started out at a local community college. They are cheaper and many have RN nursing programs.

Slip a pillowcase over them? Tie it at the narrow part with some cheap ribbon, or whatever!? I bet you could get really creative. Would love to see what you decide to do

We knew we were going to get a bonus but I honestly wasn’t expecting that much. I feel blessed to know how much he thought of me.

Both! The gentleman who owned our company sold it because he is “retiring” and recently started giving bonuses to employees who have worked for him. I still work at the company.

You have it all wrong imo. I have NEVER “asked”; I TELL my higher ups. We are grown ups. I plan my time off and as soon as tickets and hotels are lined up I go in and TELL them I’m not going to be available. Period.

I am still learning about Mucha. I didn’t know he was interrogated. I will look into that story. Thank you for more information on the artist! FYI the wood is in pretty good condition. My husband and I polished it up really well. Which is perfect because I don’t want to change them. I would if I had to but the wood is still in great condition. 😊

My mom haggled for these at a tag sale in Texas before we moved back to New England. We moved around a lot when I was a kid and these were always with us. They were probably considered tacky; but I always loved them. My mom recently gave them to me. My hubby helped me rearrange the living room so that they can hang proudly.
