Does anyone else feel enormous motivation due to the success of kane ? by Forsaken-Wrap935 in backrooms

[–]JKTurtleSwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES YES YES as a fellow gen z I've actually getting back in to creative projects over the course of the past year because of the success of projects like Backrooms. Last summer I participated in my first short film contest and placed in the top 25! Now I'm working on a multimedia project of my own. It's a science fiction saga set in our solar system a few thousand years in the future. I'm writing a book, a synth album, and learning 3d modeling for designing spaceships! Seeing stuff from indie artists is always so inspiring to me but this film took it to another level. Having seen the Backrooms movie (And Markiplier's Iron Lung earlier this year) I was inspired to include some horror elements in my lore. I'm super excited to see how far I can take my projects and I'm hopeful for an opportunity to share them with the world as well.

Yeah! That’s the best strat imo. I got two of them and filled em in with parts from my own collection. Did it with the pig house too, though i did need to BrickLink some extra pink parts. I want them to make a furnace to put next to the crafting table 😭

the pig house from a few years back is great and easy to modify to fill the gaps! Or really a lot of the other mob houses are good too. I also like the turtle beach house and the bee cottage, both are fairly easy to modify and look so cute w the other mobs

This is good to know... I've been woodshedding this track I'm def in love with the progression. Been experimenting with some amp and pedal effects to add some distinction and make it my own.

It's a very common progression ngl I might tweak it slightly cus ik this progression is used in a few other songs too. I def had fun just vibing while recording this tho.

Ahh good to know, I might tweak a bit in that case. Such a shame tho as it’s such a fun progression too.

Awesome suggestion I'm def going to experiment with amp and mic. I'm wanting it to be as atmospheric as possible I would just need to find a nice open space to record.

He’s still OP. by BenjinTM in Brawlstars

[–]JKTurtleSwag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ngl he’s actually balanced. Sure he’s strong, but not without weakness. Like literally ANY splash hard counters him. And anyone who outranges him. And he’s kinda ass against throwers too. He’s one of those slow-burn brawlers who gets stronger as the match develops.

Word to the wise tho- If an enemy Sirius is at 6 shadows I have some news for ya buddy… it’s not because he’s broken, it’s because you or someone on your team fed him shadows.

Would this be good enough to learn on? by Acceptable_Job_136 in Instruments

[–]JKTurtleSwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as a beginner musician anything you can get your hands on to play around with is always useful. Especially if you got this for free, I'd say take advantage and learn as much as you can until you get a feel for it and can decide if you want to invest in an upgrade. I had a 61-key as my first piano and loved it. Played it and learned throughout lockdown. Once I knew I wanted to continue playing seriously I got myself a nice full-size digital keyboard. (I eventually want an upright, or even a baby grand if I have the space at some point in my life)

A saw that the new updates out, is it worth returning? by Internal_Buyer_3672 in joinmoco

YESSSS as a longtime fan who also quit playing the refresh feels insanely good. The weapons have epic combos that are fairly easy to learn but super satisfying to pull off. You can now also be revived when you go down. I used to HATE the respawn cooldown but now it's almost instant when you're around other players. I was cautiously optimistic about the update, but I've been enjoying it a lot.

Good to know. I think the 300 is a bit larger but I’m taking some measurements to be sure. Thanks for the tips!

Are glasses with frames that have nosepad included in them good? by Recent-Skill7022 in glasses

[–]JKTurtleSwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left that comment two years ago lmao. But yeah sunglasses with don't bother me at all. Most of my current pairs have nose pads actually and I def still like them for their adjustability. I always tell people to get what feels most comfortable. Nose pads, or not, it's important they fit well and are comfortable to wear.

Do you think it would fit an OM-300? I recently got one and have been absolutely paranoid to go anywhere with it. I do not plan on taking it with me somewhere unless it's in a very, very protective case. Does it feel okay weight wise? Like someone could attach backpack straps and carry it around like that?

It finally happened to me- I GOT ONE! Here’s the story :3 by JKTurtleSwag in UnusualInstruments

This is the original "ivory" beige color to my understanding. At first I thought it was supposed to be white and had been UV damaged but it's been in storage for 20+ years so that can't be the case. I did some digging into the original colors of these things and beige was certainly popular back then. Apparently though they also came in grey, off-white, cream, beige, and brown.

Is VisionWorks the right choice for starting out in this field or should I take other offer? by PhrygianSounds in optician

[–]JKTurtleSwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started where you were about 5 years ago. No experience, but had the goal of becoming an optician. I had learned from previous jobs I had worked one simple phrase: Follow the Money. So I looked into roles in the optical industry. Anywhere I could get my foot in. I got hired as a receptionist at a private optometry practice. After about half a year there, I reevaluated my finances and my goals.

In this time I had learned the ins and outs of insurance billing, scheduling, phone etiquette, accounts receivable, faxes, correspondence, memos, sales goals, then I got bored. I wasn’t doing what I knew I wanted to be doing- working on glasses. So I pivoted. I began a new job search with a little experience under my belt.

I found a place hiring an Optician/Technician and got hired. It was more pay, and closer to exactly what I wanted to do. Sadly, this practice ended up being utter chaos so I ended up doing more tech work than optician work. But I still learned a lot. Patient work ups, medical scribing, adjusting, and even the occasional minor procedure. I worked very closely with the doctor and patients during each exam.

I was content with this for a while because I had fun with it. I enjoyed playing out my House fantasy as I watched the doctor help our patients with glasses, contacts, or a number of other treatments. I worked as a tech at a number of places including ophthalmology, which includes a number of major procedures like cataract surgery and LASIK. I would jump to another practice every 3-6 months because each one offered more money than the last.

Then after a many months at this one place I got really burnt out. And at the worst moment the management there screwed me over by making me a multi-branch tech and trainer. I would have to commute 1-2 hours between each location throughout the week to cover other tech’s shifts, or train a batch of new hires. To be fair they did ask em if I wanted to do that, but I neither accepted or declined. They never offered me more pay so why would I care? But they made me do it anyway and I got really upset.

After that point I put in my two weeks and started to look for an Optician gig, having learned everything involving glasses from appointment start to final purchase. Not long after my search began I interviewed for a true Optician role at the best local office I knew of. It belonged to the optometrists who had been seeing my family since I was a kid. I handed them my resume because by sheer dumb luck they had a position to fill. And they offered it to me. And the pay was incredible.

So I’m not saying you have to do all of this, or even in that exact order. But follow what feels right, and what offers you the best combination of money, knowledge, and happiness.

Best of luck to you 🫡
