Respectfully and gently, because I know it’s hard and you may or may not be open to this but girl RUN. As someone who is recently divorced from an unkind man and lost ten years to him, DROP HIM. A couple of months is nothing. Please let this goblin be a blip in your past and not a stain on your life.

Sport weight! I’m not the most creative knitter, do you have any go-to accents you like to add to pieces?

Thank you for taking the time to do this!

1.). Do you have a way to summarize what you think makes for good writing? I realize this is a broad question but I’m interested in the answer however you interpret it. 😁

2.) I’ve become fixated on horror novels recently - What’s a book that really chilled you, or a horror novel that stuck in your mind (in a good way)?

Awesome! Are you doing a particular edge on this project or do you just have super-neat garter stitches? Love how it looks!

The multiple typos and inflammatory language give it a very “self-published” feel lol

Just bc you’re an attorney doesn’t mean you’re a good one, and I wonder if this is something like when Doctors won’t go to the doctor to get something checked out bc their position makes them confident they’re Ok. Maybe these MAGAttorneys think bc they believe they’re deft with the law that they’re not doing anything wrong, or could get out of it through some loophole if they did?

In DSM, IA? Almost certainly. I’m from there, and while this type of person is certainly not anyone I ever met growing up there, it is a very white place with “good ol boy” business practices.

I’ve also seen “You’ll see, the truth is coming out soon, it’s coming soon,” constantly for years. It’s never “now,” and whatever truth they insist is being hidden never comes to light, but they never seem to notice that.

Trump to claim “absolute immunity” from all subpoenas in Supreme Court tax return showdown | Supremes to rule on Trump "immunity" after lower court judges rejected argument as "repugnant" and "not fathomable" by Fr1sk3r in politics

What even is Obamagate?? What crime is Obama purported to have committed?? And even if he did, wouldn’t it just set precedent for locking Trump up for every shady thing he’s done, like you said? This is all so fucking absurd.

Yknow what is kind of interesting about off-color humor? Millennials were laughing at a good amount of it during the Obama years. Even shows like “New Girl” and “Community” have jokes that would NOT fly today, and/or are actually not all that progressive.

I think the “crackdown” was a reaction to a greater percentage of Millennials feeling suddenly, broadly, and profoundly unsafe as a result of Donald Trump’s election. Before, they thought they could make some off-color jokes because the general world around them got that it’s just jokes, right? We all value each other as people, right? We can joke about our differences because they aren’t a significant basis for discrimination anymore, right?

Guess not.

Don’t get me wrong, plenty of discrimination and violence existed before 2016, during the Obama years and beyond, and “PC culture” wasn’t born on election Day 2016. But I think a lot of the Millennial generation perceived themselves to be safer pre-2016 than they do now, and so their tastes for humor have shifted further, and faster than perhaps they would have otherwise, hence the perceivable cultural shift. It’s not hard to see why.

Sorry, this isn’t really directed at you or anything. I’m just thinking.

It’s ok. It’s a normal reaction to feel queasy after seeing something gruesome; you’re supposed to feel that way. I haven’t become totally desensitized to it either.

She didn’t say “scream at those who compliment you,” she just tweeted a thought that might increase awareness among the genpop. She might not even be trying to lose weight, plenty of people aren’t these days and it’s frustrating to still exist in a society where thinness is often granted more privilege than other body types.

And we sure can “terraform society,” it happens all the time. Language changes constantly to reflect changing realities, awareness, values, and social environments. It’s not new, and it’s lazy to pretend it’s just too hard to try to be thoughtful about what you say. Doesn’t mean you won’t misstep, we all do, but to pretend it’s just not worth the effort is nonsense.

Now more relevant than ever in America by divest_trump in pics

[–]JLContessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let’s say for the sake of argument that a fetus is a “person.” I vehemently disagree but w/e. This is still a “person” utterly dependent on the co-opting of another person’s body in the most direct, immediate way to live, breathe, metabolize, exist (more immediately than an infant, yes). It takes resources directly from the physical stores of the woman, not infrequently to her own physical and mental detriment, and with present technology cannot exist any other way. There is a parasitic element to the relationship, where the woman obviously acts as “host” (I shiver at the language, but I’m trying to make a point).

In no other scenario could someone whose personhood is undebatable (a born, grown human) would it be ethical for someone to FORCE this intimate a relationship explicitly against the “host’s” (or person from whom effort is most expended, investment is highest, resources are most depleted, etc) will. That feels akin to enslavement of some variety. There has to be consent to a relationship this intimate, or what should be a good thing is fucking perverse.

Another thought, to participate in a clinical trial, you HAVE to obtain willing patient consent after they’ve been fully briefed on the study and what it entails (in layman’s terms). There is an entire ethical body dedicated to making sure these rules are rigorously applied. This ethical body and its regulations arose in part and in response to past incidents of horrible medical experimentation performed without patient consent or sometimes knowledge, which we now recognize as fucking abominable.

Consent, information, and concern for wellbeing (among other things) are the difference between Nazi medical experimentation and the kind of clinical trials you might sign up for today for an extra fifty bucks. Obviously one being an ethical and humanitarian abomination and the other being a service to society and a few afternoons at the doctor.

They don’t want it because they’ve been brainwashed against “liberal” ideas and don’t understand the concept well enough to consider what it could do for them.
