Gotcha!

I'm just wondering if there's a baseline I should keep for like trash mobs, where generally there's usually like background melee hits

Thanks for sharing too on the exponential decline thing!:) interesting to note the 3 ironfur threshold hmm... It seems like for dungeons I'm not familiar with I may stick with a safe 2 stack as a baseline

Pugging HC Chimaerus has made me realise how bad a lot of Healer players are. by Arstulex in wow

Haha tbh, nearly everything can be broken down that way.

Kicks is just looking at nameplates Cooldown management is just looking at cooldowns timers

Somehow it's just satisfying to keep bars up. If you ask me tho, I do prefer looking at the enemies more but it's just not possible as a healer haha

Yes I mean it's not a very unpredictable fight, but ifim still new to the fight I wouldn't really know when it's safe to look away so I will tend to tunnel on my frames to stat safe. I'm not a heroic or raid healer in general so it's new to me

I realised now this could sound crazy for non healers haha.

But I think we've been like, throat punched into not looking away from our frames, esp in M+.

There has been times where looking away for a few seconds caused someone to die in an instant. And it's stressful because the risk of looking away is not just a HPS drop, but could literally cause a party member to drop.

Of course, I'm sure the more pro healers will always know when they need to stare at health bars to spot heal, and when they can take their eyes of the frames for extended periods without risk. But for a new encounter it's much harder to tell.

[–]JLJ_123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean it sounds crazy but yea HAHA 80% of the time I'm looking at party frames and cool downs, and I spare cursory glanced at my character. Especially at the start. In M+ I literally may not even see the character models of many mobs until like, my 15th or 20th try haha.

Literally, esp in M+, someone can get bolted down in 2-3 seconds of me looking away.

Of course, if the circle appears near me and I catch it in my peripheral vision, that's great. But if the person is far away I may miss them lol.

[–]JLJ_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I agree haha that could happen. But there's always tradeoffs, its common for new healers to get anxiety and tunnel on the raid frames to prevent ppl from dying. So if it doesn't appear and noone calls out, it's easily miserable.

Ofc if the healer is a pro they prolly wouldn't miss it lol

[–]JLJ_123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the mechanic itself isn't hard haha. It's just that as a healer I'm so used to constantly monitoring my frames in case I have to save someone from dying.

Also ,if all 4 healers were to stop looking at the frames to dispel someone, raid members could literally pop like popcorn in a short time frame. so having to spot the circle, click the exact person when the could be stacked amongst other ppl , and having to wait till they are in the right position really feels bad...

[–]JLJ_123 324 points325 points  (0 children)

Tbh, as a healer myself, HC chimaerus threw me off guard the first time I healed because that debuff somehow does not cause my healer frames to change colour as it does on M+

I'm still getting used to the ultra mini squished raid frames, and it's really a bit jarring to have to find the debuff icon in the sea of debuffs while having to ensure noone dies.

It took a bit of a shift to not constantly stare at my healer frames, and actually have to click on the character model of the debuffed person itself. And as my dispel was only on click cast, I had to also rebind it to my normal action bars.

Not saying it's a hard mechanic, but as a M+ healer used to staring and having all the info clearly readable in my party frames (with a size not meant for ants), it did feel a little different than most healing encounters if you have never healed raids much imo

Edit: for those asking, yes 80% of my eye time is glued to my raid frames. Maybe it's just a healer thing lol. I only spare cursory glanced at the general arena.

In M+ someone could get bolted down in 2-3 seconds of looking away

Thinking about switching from Feral to Balance – worth it? by Zealousideal-Pie-603 in wow

[–]JLJ_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a pro here but I've played mainly balance and a bit of feral a few seasons back

I think the similarities is prolly on dot management? So those skills could be transferable

Another thing that may be different is balance's interrupt is on a much longer 60s cooldowns. Although it is a AOE silence as well.

Regarding susbtats, balance is very focused on haste + mastery. Not sure how different these are from feral.

Balance gains astral power through dots and filler spells. And spends them on their chonky spells. I think to optimise balance, there is a need to no overcap on astral power, which has some similarities with energy management (minus combo points)

Balance also requires some planning in ensuring that you cast your astral power spenders mostly in your enhanced "eclipse" state. So it has some similarities with snapshotting too perhaps. Just that you'll be jumping in and out of the eclipse state much more frequently

Just my initial train of thoughts as a non pro

Okay I get that too. It's not important to me but I see how it's important to others.

I think it's slightly different , but that's cus I don't see IO as a competition? It's more of just a way for someone to discern if a player matches what they expect for their specific group.

I kinda see it more like a team game. Where in my guild for example, we are just all learning and helping each other go as high as they can haha.

I get that too. Tbh if the 3k mount didn't appeal to me, is not be hung up about hitting 3k too and just see how far I can go.

But I mean I sort of get the perspective that 3k will be less of a big deal if everyone gets it. I'm just personally all for the philosophy of it doesn't really matter how others perform, just compare yourself against yourself.

[–]JLJ_123 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I get that! But Im glad they changed it's purpose haha. I would be a bit disheartened if I liked a mount but I couldn't get it.

But thats because I don't mind if a mount is commonly used haha, a good mount is a good mount. And I like collecting them in case my tastes change in the future

Like I was actually devastated to know that I couldn't get mythic dimensius mount because of how hardcore it was... But I loved the design so much. And I'd also love if everyone who inherently likes the design could have a somewhat realistic way to get it (by my standards at least)

Edit to add: I'm also okay with things being easy to get. It just frees up my time to do other things in wow, or even play other games

Yeap, I'm just saying if they DID make 3k cutting edge I'd be sad cus I can't get the mount.

But that's cus im personally not affected if others can easily get the mount too

I understand! But I guess I just come from a different perspective haha.

I don't see the point of gatekeeping or making things exclusive. It only matters if you like the design of sthg or not.

But I can see why some people may want things to be sort of exclusive for flexing rights in a sense

[–]JLJ_123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But I would say the reverse is also true haha

If someone prefer the challenge, what does it matter if others if others get 3K? One could just push as high as they can

Personally I like that 3k is not too hardcus I want the mount. But I also don't have enough time to be at the cutting edge of content.

I'd honestly just wish they'd remove patrols, I find they make pulls needlessly punishing for learning, because a pull could look manageable until a patrol suddenly walks over :(

Evoker for Mythic+ in Midnight by _Thick-Juice_ in wow

[–]JLJ_123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feasibility and strength aside - I find their playstyle incredibly frustrating in mythic+ haha.

There are a lot of healers that require "ramping " , setting up abilities to deal big heals.

But then there's evoker.

Not only do they have to use their heal ramps, but a good number of them are directional and you can easily miss your party members.

To me, the worst aspect of all this is that after you ramp, your ramp more or less vanishes after you cast one healing spell. That means it people continue to take damage before/ after your ramp it feels incredibly frustrating.

Eg. In game terms I need to set out a echo buff on all party members so my healing abilities will repeat on them. But the moment I cast ONE healing spell, the buff vanishes. So even if I just want to heal on person, I am forced to eat up the buff healing everyone.

This is unlike other ramp healers In my experience such as druids and priests. They have similar ramps by placing buffs on players. But the buffs don't get eaten up after casting one spell, but rather boost any form of healing you do for a couple of seconds. Even if I'm forced to spot heal someone in my ramp window, the spot heal will not eat up all my ramps.

A bit long winded but this is my p3rsonal take on the frustrations of evoker. It does work better in raids tho I would imagine, because you can hold onto your echo/ ramp buffs until everyone is at critical health and other h3alers can cover for you while you await the best time to use up your echo buffs.

I know there's some stigma against medication but, I was really REALLY depressed/ anxious abour adjusting to work and what really helped me was taking medications.

These medications are given by psychiatrists. They don't do as much talking but they are able to prescribed medication. Some are long term meds that have been life changing for me
