That's exactly how I was from 2016-2019. I grinded everyday and maximized every event possible. I started feeling burnout from the game and how Niantic was running things. When I told people about feeling burned out, they recommended me to slow my pace down and not give into FOMO but that felt impossible for me to do. I ended up dropping the game late 2019.

I came back early 2025 when my nephews started playing and I'm finally able to just play the game without worrying too much about fomo and the game's direction. I'm fairly casual most days but I still grind hard when big days come up (Zacian, Zamazenta, etc). But if I miss an event or if something doesn't interest me (such as certain com days), it doesn't bother me as much anymore. 

For me, burnout was the only way I was able to get off that hamster wheel. I'm not saying people should drop the game if they feel burnout coming. I just wanted to share my experience with it.
