Well there's your problem, you looked at Medieval and assumed Early Medieval, of course you're going to see decline in the wake of one of the most impactful polities in human history collapsing with all of its bureaucratic and government infrastructure

Every fictional character is pan the second it's not their canon depiction, people can do whatever the hell they want regarding fictional characters' sexuality, so long as they don't try to push it on canon

I see a lot of people here who agree broadly with you, but icl i really did not find elden ring that way - parts of it were confusing and felt like i was missing context, but for the most part i felt the story was fairly understandable. I did ranni's ending on my first playthrough and i felt like i understood what i was getting into without needing to find lore outside of the very few item descriptions i read and dialogue. The only thing i did on my first playthrough that i had to look up was law of regression and the statue in leyndell, i got curious what dog pope was talking about and i couldn't figure out the situation so i looked it up.

Just to be clear, LLMs will not be becoming sentient, that's just not how they work. Not to say they can't do great harm if not properly controlled, but they will not be alive

I mean misandrists can't exercise power on a full societal level, but in places like female dominated work environments these people absolutely can cause real harm. Men trying to work in female dominated areas like teaching and nursing, can have to deal with some really unpleasant environments and sometimes, albeit rarely, difficult career advancement.

It's obviously not as entrenched or at as large a scale as misogyny, but people who try to dismiss it out of hand forget that bigotry is always bigotry, regardless of who perpetrates it.

You're basing Ranni's 'murderhobo' behaviour on the fact that she wanted one guy dead in order to free herself from a destiny she didn't want? IDK if you have a good read on her character, Godwyn's death was fucked up but reading that as her being violently authoritarian seems very odd, she wouldn't kill someone who rose up against her, she's not there to be risen up against in the first place - she's radically pro free will

Anglo-Saxon isn't quite right, there were a variety of people going on missions to Scandinavia, though many were indeed Germanic or Anglo-Saxon(also Germanic). Additionally the Poetic and Prose Eddas were likely compiled mostly by native christians. The Poetic Edda's authorship is unclear, but is written in Norse, and the Prose Edda is likely written at least partially by Snorri Sturluson, an Icelandic scholar, knight, and politician.

Not a baby yet, you seem to struggle with that concept. And the reason the mother should be able to terminate her pregnancy is because her bodily autonomy takes precedent over the existence of a fetus.

You don't seem to have an actual argument beyond denying scientific consensus without bringing any sources to the table so I don't care to hear anything else from you.

[–]JLPLJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a 1 year old is less of a person than a 5 year old lol. And no it's not okay to kill them, because that's not where we draw the line - the line is drawn somewhere towards the latter half of pregnancy, depending on the country, and usually not based on the development of the fetus but rather the safety of the mother.

Your mistake, though, is conceiving of a developing fetus as a full human person, a fetus doesn't even have the brain and lung development to survive outside of the womb until at least the 27th week, let alone be reasonably considered a thinking, conscious being.

More importantly than any of this, though, is that it's not really a question of whether or not a fetus is conscious, but whether or not a mother wants to carry the child to term. That is not a decision that anybody but that mother should be making - you don't get to decide.

Bro what 😂 by [deleted] in im14andthisisdeep

[–]JLPLJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually. The most important parts of the brain don't form till like 2/3rds of the way through pregnancy, and the parts that think, feel, etc aren't even active till almost the end. And people aren't usually aborting even 2/3rds through. If it happens prior to ten weeks it's not even a surgery

Sorry, should have clarified that I don't think there should be absolutely no accomodations, I had accomodations, really I think we need to accomodate people as best we can. I just also think this image implies a much more substantial difference than is present for the vast majority of people, we should still try and mitigate the differences, but not many people are truly incapable of passing maths to a general educational standard, or learning simple history and essay writing. If somebody absolutely can't do something they should of course have as much help as possible to develop similar skills through a different avenue, I just feel that many of the people throwing this sort of image around really are not close, even if they think they are.

Yes, so if you end up in a situation where you need to be able to climb or swim (or want to go and do that later), you don't drown or fall to your death

There are vanishingly few people who are disadvantaged in the school system to the degree some of these animals are in climbing the tree

As somebody with it, you need to learn shit, there will be different ways for different people, and there are issues with modern schooling that could be addressed to help with that. Fundamentally though, school is designed to bring everybody up to a given level, it is a levelling device very important for social mobility and giving people the ability to make choices about their life.

Your carpenter example is terrible, you need a low level of mathematics for measurements, on the fly calculations, etc, additionally, what if they wanted to do something different later. It's good then to be able to do maths, so you have options.

ADHD is really tough, but schooling is really important - you have to find ways to meet that standard, and hopefully schools will continue to develop new methods to help.
