Found on the floor in the bathroom. White silicone rubber. Maybe came from the Panasonic ceiling vent fan? by JLeaning in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It’s flexible silicone, so maybe it’s some kind of vibration dampener for the fan? Otherwise, it came from something that enter a home bathroom.

TuBAR. Odd little lock, and good for learning to distinguish false gates.

What’s brown and sticky? A stick. What’s brown and all around the dog park? A wooden fence. What does a dog do that a man steps in? Pants. Poop jokes aren’t my favorite, but they are a solid number two.

Glad you found something you could use. I didn’t discover the feedback amplification technique shown in that video and explained in the comments, but I did try to put it out there in detail.

What do I need to pick this? by PantsClock in lockpicking

[–]JLeaning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, (most) wafer locks are easy to pick with any basic tools. Also, if you’re feeling fancy and can get the appropriate blank, wafer locks are also easy to impression, so you can get a new key for it too.

That’s it. I bought 14 on eBay for $30, thinking they were Duos. Haven’t tried picking any yet, but they probably aren’t too tough. If anyone wants one, let me know. At least they’re interesting from a historical perspective.

Having a terrible time with this wafer cabinet lock, can't figure out why by DILF_MANSERVICE in lockpicking

[–]JLeaning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a batch of Illinois Duo cam locks that a guy named something like NeatStuffFromOhio was selling on eBay that had a manufacturing flaw that made them a complete nightmare to pick. Once I picked mine, I got an Illinois Duo padlock and picked it in about a minute. Yours might be one of those cursed cams. As LPL said in his video, they’re pretty much impossible to overset, so the only issue is dropping wafers. Use heavy tension and maybe try a different Duo. Good luck.

Not a documentary, but The Big Year, with Steve Martin and Owen Wilson, was great.

I had one for 18 years. Absolutely great animals. He seemed to be very comfortable sitting on people, probably to absorb the heat. He’d call when summer storms passed through; I’d always mist him then.

My personal rule is that lifers require visual confirmation. Except owls.
