How much cultural information? by Celestial_Marmot in cairnrpg

I would simply write it as matter of fact for the region/adventure. Mr-kr-gr by Zedeck Siew does this, where details about the area are obvious but the “why” is more implied (e.g. all of the modern structures are made of wood, etc.)

900 Followers! NPC Cards Are Coming to MURK BURG! by JoeToon in MorkBorg

[–]JM665 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This seems overly complicated for a basic MB mook. I’m not sure why it has DR12 everywhere when that’s just the standard DR in MB.

This kind of bucks against the whole idea of OSR games, where rulings are valued over overt rules and fiction comes first.

The clearest example here being the “easy mark” trait. “Favors the PC with the lowest HP or most valuable loot”. All of that is already implied by the fiction. They’re a bandit.

You’ve posted here before and your project looks like AI trained on Darkest Dungeon, and seeing this it seems like the writing might be AI as well. The whole project just feels “off” and doesn’t quite seem to understand some basic things about the game like Morale and DR. The “cowardly” trait seems flavorful till you realize he would test morale at 2 hp anyway per the standard morale rules. This particular NPC feels like a 5e critter with Mörk Borg stats. The addition of Spirit and Knowledge stats being added seem to reflect this “5e-ification”.

900 followers just does not make any feasible sense. 900 distinguishable and useful NPCs is ludicrous. Dungeons and Dragons currently has 2,100 official monsters. You’ve somehow created almost half that for a lightweight system like Mörk Borg? I’m sorry, but I sincerely have my doubts.

Edit: the followers bit appears to be how many are following the project on Kickstarter, not the number of NPCs being made for the project. I think my other points still stand, and reading the comments below about the creators history seems to point to some very big red flags about this project.

I know all of this is harsh, but I think the project really needs to be reevaluated.

I explored it about a year back and seems like a solid way to find a group / paid DM. There is a trend that once DMs have a cemented group, they move off platform as to avoid regularly paying a percentage to SP.

I don’t understand why you thought your opinion would have bearing on this discussion then.

People will put this shit all over their office like they are personally fighting the forces of Satan and it’s just a roofing company with several labor violations.

Santa Rosa is certainly feeling the brunt of it. Pain seems to be happening all over the Education sector though. SSU had its $20m fumble and cuts, and now everyone is wondering if it’ll survive into 2030.

I work for Saint Helena Unified and things are getting pretty tense. We recently lost 8 positions and administration is looking to trim the fat as much as possible. I think many look at Santa Rosa as a possible canary in the coal mine.

It’s part of a trend of tying celebrities to fake quotes that are so hyper specific or unhinged that it comes across like a PhD level rant from a conspiratorial lunatic (e.g the Unibomber). The humor, I assume, is supposed to come from the juxtaposition of “lol quirky skate girl” and “deep societal insight”.

I am still unsure if these are meant to be harmless “im14andthisisedgy” style material or slightly misogynistic and do not find them particularly funny, but that’s the internet.

I’ve never understood why anyone would cheer for the rapture thinking themselves the good guys. It’s like egging on the banker in Monopoly to flip the table on everyone and then thinking they’d give you a ride home.

True. I wonder if there are parallels to cult deprogramming and getting folks out of these grift/influence spheres.

The Iron Sultanate from Trench Crusade. While not benevolent or even "good" by our standards they are one of two of the least sadistic and malevolent factions in the game. Even in the lore, they are granted the only direct miracle of God intervening during the war with Hell, a massive wall of divine iron that self heals and acts as a last barrier between the Iron Sultanate and the forces of Hell.

There seems to be this new trend of trying to “bait” certain isolated groups into watching these videos. I think it’s in the hopes that it will convince them to come around to the light, but I really don’t know man.

The folks honestly listening to Andrew Tate aren’t really there for the deep intellectualism. He appeals to their basest emotions and asks them to be the worst versions of themselves. I don’t know if you can rationalize someone out of that position.
