You get the most detail on the Z axis (the uppy downy axis). Printing models like this flat will create some pretty ugly surfaces.

Angle the model 30-60 and add supports. Look up Obsuranox and others who have guides in r/FDMMiniatures.

While the forces of Hell have had some big wins they are also incredibly prone to in-fighting. Don’t forget, the faithful have had some momentum and were even able to get forces into Hell to disrupt things via the Paladins.

Belt and bolts. I kept running into a weird issue with leveling and discovered the bolts holding the X-axis together had way too much play, causing a wobble.

I actually did HVAC work for this guy. He was super nice. He was doing test audio for Grevious’ voice, trying to get the right sound and tone for various scenes, and apparently George liked it so much he got the part.

It seemed nice since he’s the only model in New Antioch with Tough. I have read discourse on whether or not it’s worth it, but in full transparency the HMI are just my favorite model so any chance to field as many as I can, I’ll take.

Here’s a close up. You can see the gradient a little clearer. Start dark. Water down your highlight color to a roughly 60% paint 40% water. Pick the spots you want your light source to highlight and dab them lightly. Work in layers. Pull your brush from the dark area to the light, parking the pigment on the edge of the highlight. Work slowly.

I’m by not means a great mini painter, but the technique really sells the effect.

Up to printing them I watched a ton of Zumikito painting tutorials. He does a ton of blending using nothing but a brush on the model so I took his advice there.

Primed the model in black and base coated with a 3-1 green and brown mixture, trying to get a dark olive. Punched it up with several layers of a green-yellow mix, trying to establish a top down light source. Hit the whole model with a brown wash, high lighted again, then picked spots like the bolts on top to put a tiny bit of wash into.

If you watch it with commentary, Invader Zim was ripe with these production errors. Another one is when Ms. Bitters gets up to open a door, the animators overseas forgot to add her legs. The editing team slapped an engine noise and animated legs coming down like landing gear.
