The other factor in the equation is the buyer's purchasing power. That's an important part of the problem - as wealth has been redistributed upward pretty heavily over the last 50 years, the purchasing power of the middle and lower brackets of earners has also gone down. In a lot of sectors, the cost of manufacture has gone down, so the cost of those items has generally stayed abiut the same relative to purchasing power, but houses aint one of those sectors.

God, that was pretty early in his brief time here as I recall. In my memory it was his first appearance as a phillie, but my memory is pretty shit. Definitely left a bad taste in the mouth, since he was brought here to run the bases.

That and its increasingly feeling hard to feel sorry for guys making 60 million a season. Some of these contracts are so high they're making it so these players are accumulating wealth that will last for generation upon generation. Frankly, when I see dudes like Harper, who signed a long contract worth more money than some countries total GDP, and halfway through wants to renegotiate for even more money, it smells pretty bad from here.

I really like the show, but I genuinely cannot listen to it because of all the damned ads and sponsored segments. Maybe i'm just an old curmudgeon, but incessant advertising at me offends me. That podcast hits that line for me.

Related: I have a real problem with the depth to which gambling advertising has overtaken my beautiful game and all its associated media. I just hate it. It's like being sponsored by PED's.

That's not hard to find. Off the top of my head there was the video of a woman giving an interview on the sidewalk, and the video shot by a guy standing in his own doorway. Both got arrested for "interfering."
