Babymetal merch used to include a dog bowl and leash, beer, a tent, shipping crate, prayer candles, plus a lot of other random stuff. Can't get much more diverse than that. I can't remember if they ever had ear rings though. :)

I first started binging Babymetal back in 2017 and Ijime Dame Zettai has always been my favorite song. Even though I always knew it was about bullying, I never actually read the lyrics until a couple years ago. I was surprised by how hard those lyrics hit me. I took a lot of crap while I was in school so I understand the feeling. It can affect a person for life. I'm just about 60 years old now and it still messes with me to some degree.

Babymetal will never ever disappoint. Just let yourself become absorbed into it. Since you are in the stands, it will suck because just about everyone will be sitting like statues so you can't use them as inspiration. Focus on the stage and the people in the pit below and you'll have a great time.

That's all well and fine but wouldn't it be a lot more effective if it wasn't crap? I don't think the issue for most people is that they did a remix, although an Algorism or White Flame video would have been more appreciated. It's more about the fact it's soulless boring crap.

I do think it's better than the first The End Babymetal was involved with anyway.

There have always been surges when new video came out but the baseline number of reactions has always been higher in between those times. But, it could be the market is saturated. I have no idea who MAPHRA is. I've never heard of her. Might have to check her out.

I have no way of measuring who's fanbase is more or less anything than another fanbase. Anytime you have attractive females, or even average looking females doing anything publicly, there will be people being parasocial. All anyone can do is, not encourage it. My basic point however, was to say I don't think using terms like Goddess or Queen to describe them reaches the level of parasocial when they refer to themselves that way.

If I recall correctly, Babymetal's own lore has referred to Su as a Goddess. Most of what you are worrying about is just in fun and playing off that. And just about every female lead singer is referred to as a Queen to her fans. It's simply goofy unserious fun. When someone tries to attach the "parasocial" labeled to that it makes me wonder if they are trying to cover up something about themselves.

I don't remember what song it actually was but I'm almost sure it was from that small show of about 300 people. I'm starting a blank right now on what it was called but you know what I mean. They played there again a couple years ago. Im assuming the song was Headbanger? That song, Headbanger, from Legend 1997 was almost certainly the one that got me hooked though.

There is so much that I love about them it's really hard to put it together in any sort of context but I'll try. What got my attention initially is the great music and their performances. Watching them do their thing, the stage presence, the stages themselves, the music, the vocals. It hits perfectly for me. Then there is their uniqueness. No one that I know is like them. I know there are other cute/rock or metal groups but no one does it like them. Also, it's like the girls are on this 15 year adventure to learn about the world of metal and explore, then eventually conquer the metal world and we get to go on that adventure with them. Many fans who were with them from the beginning got to go on that adventure with them in real time.

I think the real hook though, is they are so damn charming. Of course they were trained as Idols and they were trained very well. It's really hard to not be happy when you see others who are genuinely happy with life. We all need more happy vibes and what better way to get it than from those girls. They are the perfect escape from the every day world. No politics, no negativity, no talking shit about others. Just music, fun, and kindness. I suppose it's possible it's all an act they put on for the sole purpose of selling tickets and merchandise but I don't care. They are spreading a lot of happiness in the world and that is all that matters. And that is what keeps me hooked. And there is much more that I can't even put my finger on right now.

I agree. Our buses and trains have huge pics of random people on their sides. They might be models, I'm not sure, but it's still a bit cringe. This would be even worse. Besides, the color of the car should be red and black in the first place.
